“Well, Sarah’s mom comes with you to pickup. That might be the tipoff,” I say shyly.

“That is Sarah’s mom, but we aren’t together. We never actually were together when she got pregnant, but shit happens and she’s a great mom, so we’re friends.” He shrugs and then starts making a drink for the guy next to me.

I blow out a steady breath, happy to be steering the conversation in a different direction.

“So, I have some questions if you have a moment… about all of this.” I wave my hand in the air as a way to convey what I’m talking about.

He smirks. “I would be surprised if you didn’t. Shoot.”

“Okay, what is a prospect? And what is a road name? Why is there barbed wire outside? And a guy with a gun? And—” he stops me by holding his hand up.

“Alright Teach, one thing at a time,” he says with a chuckle. But before he can answer my question, he’s called to the other side of the bar for a drink order.

“I’ll be right back to answer your burning questions.” He says as he quickly walks toward the men who called him over. I scan the party for Marley, hoping to see how much longer she wants to stay when I lock eyes with the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes on. His dark brown eyes catch mine and for a moment I can’t look away, can’t break the spell that’s bound me to him.

“Alright, a road name is a name you get when you join the club… Teach? You listening?” Cal asks as he waves his hand in my face. I blink a few times and drag my attention back to Cal.

“Yes, I’m listening. So, a road name is…?” I try to give him my full attention as he explains “MC Life” to me. But I can’t help but notice the gorgeous man now headed towards the bar.

CHAPTER THREE

axel

About an hourafter getting to the clubhouse, I am finally buzzed and relaxing. It’s almost time for me to call it a night, pick a club girl and head up to my room. But I’m enjoying spending time with my brothers. Bear, Savage, Blaze, and Marley are all sitting with me at a table in the back. I’m not particularly interested in being in the middle of the party, and neither is anyone else at our table.

“I’m going to get another round, anyone want anything?” I look around to everyone shaking their heads, then move toward the bar. Making my way through the crowd, I catch sight of Mia and Tank flying around, slinging drinks as people line up.

Where the fuck is Cal? I look over to the end of the bar and see him talking to a woman I haven’t seen before—and damn, I would remember her. She’s gorgeous, with long, wavy auburn hair framing a delicate face. I can barely tear my eyes away from her face to look at her body.

She’s wearing a top that looks painted on, showing all her delicious curves. She’s sitting, but you can tell her body is fit and strong. There’s something about her expression that makes me wary, like she’s unsettled here at the clubhouse. She’s definitely uncomfortable and occasionally looks around with eyes buggingout of her head when she catches sight of a naked woman or someone lighting up a joint. She’s too good to be here and too beautiful to be sitting at the bar alone.

Cal is heading back to help with drink orders when I holler, “Hey, Cal, can I get a whiskey?” He nods my way. I like Cal—recently patched and loyal as fuck. He makes a good brother.

“No problem, Axel. How’s it going out there?” He gives a subtle hint that the question is about more than the party, but we don’t talk club business in front of anyone outside the club, and this mystery Angel is definitely a new face.

“Fine. We’ll talk tomorrow,” I say as I glance at the woman sitting at the bar. She turns to me, and I catch sight of the brightest green eyes I’ve ever seen and full lips that would look glorious wrapped around my cock. Fuck, my dick is pressing so hard against my zipper I think it might burst open if I move. She’s hands down the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever laid eyes on. She blushes and quickly turns away the moment I catch her staring.

I smirk, I know I’m pretty good-looking, but damn, does it feel good to catch her off balance.

I lean in so she can hear me over the loud music, but that’s a mistake—she smells like lavender and vanilla with a hint of liquor. I’m intoxicated just off her scent. What the fuck is happening?

I never go out of my way to talk to women or even care enough to notice what scent they have. Women come to me, begging to be the one I take upstairs for the night. But something here is different. She is different.

“Hi, I’m Axel. I’ve never seen you around. You here with someone?” She better not be here with a brother, or we’re going to have a problem.

“Okay, now is that one of those road name things, or are you really named Axel?” she hiccups with a giggle—a fucking giggle. That sound warms my heart. “Because Cal has been teaching me all about the MC life, and I think I understand the road name stuff… maybe?” She gives me a shy smile, but her eyes are bright with excitement and wonder.

“Axel is my road name, babe,” I move closer to her. “But you never answered my question. You here with someone?” She looks around the bar as if searching for them, and I drop my head. She’s here with a fucking guy.

“There! Marley!” She waves over my shoulder, but Marley and Blaze are too caught up practically having sex in the corner to notice her. “I’m here with my best friend, Marley,” she explains.

Oh shit, she’s the teacher.

“Ahh, so you’re the one who got conned into coming to a biker party.”

She looks at me with those mesmerizing eyes, unsure how I know that information, and it makes me laugh. Fuck, she’s something else. “I’m friends with Blaze.”

She tilts her head and runs her fingers over my patch. “And you’re the Enforcer,” she says as she looks up at me through long lashes. I stare at her for a moment. Most people won’t come near me because of who I am and what I do, but here she is running her fingers over my cut like it’s the most natural thing in the world. “I can honestly say I’m not sure what you do. Do you enforce laws, or…?”
