Usually, I would be ogling a woman’s chest if she put the goods out there like that. But she is hands down the most gorgeous woman in here, and every man within a ten-foot radius is checking her out. I want to slam my fist into the face of anyfucker who looks at her. Something about this woman really sets off my inner cave man.
Her long, wavy hair beckons me to wrap my hand around it and take what is mine. Show everyone in this bar who she belongs to.
Mine? Belongs to? What the fuck is wrong with me?
I need to get Jenna out of here and call Sapphire to meet me at the clubhouse after we are done. Some other pussy will help get Jenna out of my system. I want to roll my eyes at myself. I know full well I haven’t been able to get my dick up for the last few weeks for anyone but Jenna. And right now, I’m sporting a healthy rod in my pants.
I start to make my way to her when I realize she isn’t alone; she is talking to some asshole who is way too close to her for my liking. I stop and pull my phone out to send Blaze a text.
Axel
Got a problem. Jenna is here.
Blaze
Shit, what is she doing here?
Axel
Not sure. I’m going to get her out of here.
Blaze
Okay, I’ll handle things here. Check in when you’re done.
I text Cal, letting him know Jenna is with me and he can go home for the night. I know Sarah is at her mom’s tonight, so Cal has some rare free time.
I put my phone back in my pocket and head for Jenna. She doesn’t even see me approaching her as she stands at the crowded bar. It pisses me off; she needs to be more aware of hersurroundings. I put my arms on either side of her, enclosing her in front of me. I press myself to her, needing her body against mine. I feel her go rigid at first, but then she melts against me.
I lean into her ear, “Hey, baby.” I say so only she can hear me. She turns in my arms, a surprised look covering her gorgeous face. I stare into her mesmerizing green eyes and breathe in her scent. Her just being this close to me soothes my soul. She is slowly wrapping herself around my heart, and she doesn’t even know it.
Before she can respond, the man she is talking to postures and glares in my direction. “What the fuck, take your hands off of her, Chaser,” he says in a demanding tone. I don’t even move, just raise my eyes to glare at the pathetic man standing in front of us. He obviously doesn’t know who the fuck I am or he would be long gone by now.
Jenna whips her head around to him, almost as if forgetting he is there. “Oh, Jack, it’s okay. This is my, um, this is Axel,” she finally gets out. I smirk at her and nod at the fucker who thinks he can step up to me. I let it go, seeing as how my mission is to get Jenna out of here as quickly as possible.
“I’m her Axel,” I say with afuck-yousmile. That earns me a sideways glance from Jenna.
The blonde-headed man stares at us with disgust, and it makes me want to bash his face into the bar. Who the hell is this guy? Jenna turns around to face me once again, my hands still on either side of her.
“What are you doing here?” she says curiously.
“I could ask you the same thing, Angel,” I say, eyeing her as she glares at me like I’m not allowed to question her. My little badass. Most grown men cower when I level them with my anger, but Jenna just puts her hands on her hips and reciprocates my glare. She hasn’t been afraid of me since day one and something about that makes me happy.
“For your information, I’m here with my coworker and her friends.” She points a perfectly manicured finger in the direction of a table across the room. I look over my shoulder to see a group of people so plastered they probably won’t remember half the night. I move so that my face is directly in front of hers.
“We will talk about this at your apartment, but right now it’s not safe for you to be here. I need to get you out of here.” I think she will respond best to the truth. I don’t want to scare her, but I need to get her somewhere safe. She looks up at me through her long black eyelashes. Even in her heels, the top of her head only comes up to my shoulder.
With hands still on her hips, her shoulders relax a bit. “Okay, but I want to know what’s going on when we get out of here. You’re making me nervous,” she says as I drop my hands to her hips, pulling her to me. The smell of lavender and vanilla wafts around us. God, I miss her. These past few weeks have been torture for me; I can’t get her out of my head. She sighs against me, and for a moment I wonder if she’s been wrestling with the same feelings.
“Let me pay my tab, and we can go.” She turns and gives the bartender a wave. He races over to her. Jenna hands him her card and then looks up at the blonde asshole, still staring at us, stunned. I haven’t forgotten his presence, just don’t give a fuck. My hands never leave her body.
“It was nice seeing you, Jack. I think I’m going to head home,” she says, giving him one of her beauty-queen smiles. He looks from her to me. It’s obvious he wants to say something, but wisely keeps quiet. I can’t put my finger on it, but something is off about this guy. I will have to ask Jenna about him later. We head toward the door. I keep her smaller hand in mine as I lead us out of the crowded club. Exiting the front, I feel her shiver and pull her into my side.
“Where’s your car?”
“It’s right there,” she points to her compact black SUV in the front row. We start to walk that way.
“How much have you had to drink?” I question her, studying the side of her perfect profile. She lets out an annoyed chuckle. “I barely had half of my drink. I’m okay. Promise.”
