“I do too,” Piper smiles.
“I don’t really give a fuck; It’s not about trusting them; I want as many people on this so I can find and gut whoever is still out there taking these girls,” Daylan shrugs. “I kind of trust that one though,” He points to me before resuming typing away on his phone.
Jacob huffs. “Fine, I have ties to the Bratva and one of my uncles’ men is undercover. He has heard rumblings of an organised group working within the area, but I am still waiting on him giving me something to go on or a name,”
“We have looked into nearly every staff member here, went through their history with a fine-tooth comb, but nothing has fit,” Asher sits forward, bracing his elbows on his knees. “That is why I asked you to be here,” He mentions to Corden. “My man Bishop is already pulled from pillar to post on other things, he has been trying to investigate students but there is too many and not enough time. Now that I know the academy is hiding things, and that Pipers name is still in that drawer, we need to work as quick as we can,”
Corden nods then grabs his phone. “I can start looking into that. Can you pass me Bishops number and I can find out how far he has gotten with them,”
“Yeah, but I have to warn you, he is a little rough around the edges,”
Corden smirks. “I can handle it,” But then his jest ends and his eyes flit between Piper and Asher. “Do you mind if I tell my brother?”
“Who’s your brother?” Jacob snaps.
“He is an ex Marrowton Academy student, and his best friend went missing. Her name was in that drawer along with all the others. He always had a feeling she didn’t drop out but could never find any evidence to suggest otherwise,”
“Yeah, but what could he add to the group other than words?” Daylan’s voice vibrates from behind me.
“He is the founder and owner of Eidolon Security,” Corden shrugs.
“Hold the fuck up,” Daylan announces as he stands and moves closer to the group. “Your brother is Castille Thorne,”
“How did you not know that?” Asher snorts. “Did you not see the file I sent you on everyone’s backgrounds?” I freeze. I assumed Asher will have had us all looked at thoroughly, especially if we were getting close to Piper, but this confirms he received the fake file and life my father paid someone to create. Will he ever forgive me for all the lies?
“You know I don’t” Daylan chuckles.
“Yeah, Castille is my brother, and he will definitely want to know about this. Once he graduated, he was no longer allowed access into the academy to keep searching for information, he even tried to get a job here as a lecturer, but they turned him down. He needs to find out what happened to her as much as we need to protect Piper. Plus, he will make searching the students faster,”
Asher nods after Piper gives her go ahead. “Tell him,”
“So,” I break my silence. “What can I do?”
“You can stay as far away from this as possible. You already have someone threatening you,” Asher stands before me as I scramble to my feet. “Speaking of the note, I need it. Corden can your brother get it analysed?” He nods.
“No way. I am the one who found those files,” I growl.
“Erm actually that was me,” Corden has the nerve to say.
“Actually,”I snap. “It was my idea to go to the records room. You wouldn’t have even been there if it wasn’t for me. I was also the one who told you about Piper’s name being in there,” I poke my index finger into Asher’s chest as he smirks down at my little tantrum.
“Far later than you should have,”
“I already apologised for that,” I cross my arms over my chest. “I am not being kept from this. If you try and keep me out, I will just start investigating things myself,”
He bites the corner of his bottom lip, still slightly amused. “How about you keep Piper company and keep watch to see if anyone is overly interested in her. Plus, keep questioning those closest to Bronwyn,” Then he rethinks. “All those who aren’t Max,” He grunts.
Aw he’s jealous.
“Then in a couple days we can meet up here again and swap info?”
“Deal,” everyone else says together.
“Fine,” I huff. “But what will you be doing?”
“It’s time me and Mr. Carmichael had another little chat,” A fiery rage lifts his mouth in a devious smile, the dangerous look on his face promises pain. A bolt of electricity heads between my legs and I pull them together to try and release the growing arousal. Asher notes the movement and runs his tongue along his plump bottom lip.
“Everyone out,” The authority in his voice adds to my want for him.
