“Hmm,” I feel the vibrations in my belly. “Then why are you clenching your thighs together and trying to get closer to me?”

I look down and I have in fact moved into his space, our chests almost touching.

A throat clears from beside us, making me shift back quickly. Whenever I am with Asher it feels like it’s only the two of us, our bodies trying to be one. Even now with the ballroom filled with students and faculty, I feel like the only girl in the world.

“I told you,” Corden speaks up. “Disgustingly delicious,”

I throw him a scowl as Piper comes to stand beside me. “You know each other?”

“We have a class together,” I admit.

“Why do I feel like there is more to this?” She gestures between the two of us.

“Ruella is still coming to terms with her feelings for me,” Asher smiles to his sister.

I splutter. “My feelings for you,”

He chuckles. “Yeah, your feelings little vixen.

“The only feeling I have for you is nausea. Why don’t you go back to your girlfriend,”

He places his hands in his pockets. “I’m already with my girlfriend,”

I scan the growing group of spectators, yet Darcy is nowhere to be found.

My brows furrow. “Darcy isn’t here,”

“No, she’s not,” His eyes narrow at the arm I still have wrapped around Corden, his hand placed on top of mine, keeping us connected.

“I suggest you remove yourself immediately so I can dance with my girlfriend,”

Gasps from the crowd echo around me as my jaw drops open in surprise.

“Oh boy,” Corden chuckles, dropping my arm and taking a step away from me. “She’s all yours mate,”

“That she is,” Asher smiles taking my now free hand in his and pulling me towards the dance floor. I am so confused I don’t protest. But then I see Darcy’s bright red face from across the room, the look of murder and promise of trouble.

I pull against my arm, stopping us both from going any further.

“Wait. Wait. What the hell is going on,”

“We are dancing,” He grins. “Well, we should be. Let’s go,” He goes to grab my hand again, but I pull it out of reach.

“Are you insane?”

“I am sure there are a few therapists that would think so,” That ridiculously handsome grin still on his face.

“You can’t just decide I am your girlfriend and then let me and the academy know all at the same time,” I whisper shout, trying not to make an even bigger scene than we already have.

“Why not?” His brows furrow.

“Erm, let me think. A few reasons. One,” I hold my index finger up. “Darcy is going to murder me, and it will all be your fault,” He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms over his chest, getting comfortable for the rest. “Two,” I add another finger. “We don’t know each other,” He scoffs. “And three, you didn’t even ask me. Just decided. That’s not how this works,”

“You finished?”

I nod. Then he grabs the three fingers I am still holding up, pulling us closer together as he lifts my hand to his face.

“One,” He kisses the tip of the index finger making my stomach tighten. “Darcy can go fuck herself. Two,” He kisses the next tip. “We may not have known each other long, but make no mistake, weknoweach other. I have never opened myself up to anyone the way I have with you,” My mouth dries.
