“I would have paid good money to watch the ass chewing Mabel gave them. Anytime Maverick gets even the slightest attitude, I threaten to call Mabel, and poof. Attitude gone, and he’s giving me everything I want.”
“Doesn’t he give you everything you want regardless?” Aspen asks with a raised brow.
“Yes. It’s very hard being a spoiled wife. You’d know if you and Rhett would stop being weird.”
I almost choke on my graham cracker. “She knows?” I ask, shocked. I thought those two were doing a better job of hiding it.
“We’re just having fun, and yes. She figured it out about as quick as you did.”
“You’re in denial, babe. And it’s not hard to figure out when it’s so freaking obvious. I’m pretty sure half of town knows, and if Weston wasn’t so oblivious, he would have pieced it together by now, too.”
“Ugh, we really need to stop before we get caught.” She nervously bites on her lip while she stares off at Rhett.
“Or you could stop being in denial and admit you have feelings for him, which is why you’ve been doing this for two years now, three?”
“You guys have been messing around for three years!” I borderline shout.
“Can you keep it down when discussing my biggest secrets? More or less. Sometimes we stop for months.” She avoids eye contact, which tells me she’s probably on the more side.
“Well, if you need advice on how to stop running from your feelings, I’m your girl,” I admit.
“How are things going with you and Weston?” Ava asks before taking another biteof her s’more.
I can’t help this smile that forms on my face. “Really, really good. It’s just like how it used to be, but better because we’re older and know more about life now, you know?”
“I’m really glad I butted in,” Aspen says through a smile.
“Me too, girl, me too. Maybe I should butt in on your business next?”
Her face goes ghostly white, and I can’t help but laugh. “I’m just kidding… Kind of.”
Chapter 37
Weston
Willow and I sit in the office, which is now officially hers. It’s clear by the pictures she has hung up of her own, pictures of us, pictures of her grandpa. My favorite part, though, is the picture she stole from my lock box, now framed and sitting on the desk.
We’re ready to press launch on our new website and officially be open for bookings. I expected to feel a level of anxiety, but it's the exact opposite. I’ve never felt more confident in anything in my life. Maybe it’s because this project brought Willow and me together, but without a shadow of a doubt, I know that these cabins were the right move. Having her by my side makes me more confident in just about everything. I’m running the ranch better, I’ve never been happier at home, and I’m about to expand my business with the love of my life.
“You ready?” Willow looks up at me, her bright green eyes shining with way too much excitement.
I nod. “I’m ready if you are.” I affectionately squeeze her shoulder.
“How about we do it together?” She shrugs, a touch of nervousness in her voice.
My heart warms at her thoughtfulness. “You want me to press launch at the same time as you?”
“This is your baby after all.” She smiles.
I shake my head “No, this is our baby now. Let's do it.” My body leans over hers, and I take a deep breath in, enjoying the thrill her scent shoots through me.
I put my hand over hers, and we click the launch button. Our website is officially live. Now Willow just has to upload our profile to other booking sites; she already has them drafted and was waiting on the website for more information. This was the final piece of the puzzle.
“Are you ready to show your family what you’ve been up to the last few months?”
“Heck yeah, I am.” Rhett and Mav picked up a lot of slack this summer; they’re the best brothers a guy like me could be blessed with. We may not be related by blood, but the love is all the same.
We step out of the office and then walk to the barn door. When we swing it open, the whole gang sits outside the office.
