“You know what? Since I’ve been working in Building C, I’d almost forgotten how awful you are. Not quite, but almost.”
I turn and start towards the door, only to run into Rosy, who, based on the look on her face, heard what I just said. She folds her arms across her ample chest and lowers her chin at me. “Everything all right here?”
My stomach flips, and my skin prickles with shame. “Yes, fine. I just needed my stapler.”
“Uh-huh,” Rosy says, giving me the side-eye while I slink past her.
As soon as I get outside, tears prick my eyes, but I blink them back. There’s no fixing what just happened. Rosy definitely heard me tell Oakley she’s awful. That is not something a person with management potential would say.
