Epilogue
Eros
THREEYEARSLATER
I used to think the universe was cruel. I am the god of love, yet, I had no love to speak of.
For millennia I searched high and low for my other half. I’d begun to lose hope. Believing I was fated to help others find love, while I remained alone.
Until Theo.
To think I finally found my soulmate in a hotel bar on Valentine’s Day three years ago today is unbelievable, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The only thing I would have changed is to have found him sooner. But I suppose all lovehappens when it’s meant to happen. It cannot be forced, or made of wishes. The universe finally brought us together, and now we have forever.
My eyes find my love as he does what he does best—drawing a sample from a barrel of red wine that’s been aging for a year now, swirling it beneath the light, tasting the vintage to see if it’s ready to be bottled, and sold.
I observe him for a moment, careful that he doesn’t hear me. I told him to meet me at the main house at seven, and it’s now fifteen past. I planned a little surprise for us to celebrate our anniversary together, and have a picnic laid out at the edge of our property here in Santorini, complete with twinkle lights and blankets, but it will have to wait till later. The Aegean Sea isn’t going anywhere, and the finger foods won’t spoil. Not that it matters anyway.
When my soul twined together with Theo’s, he lost the ability to get sick like a regular human. Like me, he still enjoys food and libations, and we need some to keep our bodies functioning. He needs to sleep more than I ever will, but it’s not the same as before. Life looks different these days, for the both of us.
I’m a god who’s lived a very long life. With that, I have more than enough money to support Theo and his dreams. I already had land in Santorini, and it didn’t take much convincing to get him to move here. We built the Love Struck Vineyards from the ground up. In the last couple of years, Theo has made a name for himself, and the wines he produces, all over Greece. With how good they are, I have no doubt he’ll be a worldwide brand soon enough.
He travels with me when he can. He loves watching me at work, helping souls find love when they most need it. Not to mention, when he found out I have wings, ones that I keep hidden from view except when I’m flying, he couldn’t believe it. Now flying with me in the clouds is one of his favorite things todo. I can’t complain. I’ll take every chance I get to hold him close. Even if that’s how we end every day together. I may not need much sleep, but I’ll never turn down a night with my mate. My Theo.
“Are you going to stare at me all night, baby?”
My eyes find his deep brown ones, as he swirls the glass tube with the bit of wine still left in it.
“I plan to.” With my hands in the pockets of my slacks, I walk toward my soulmate. He looks handsome in a simple black t-shirt that stretches across his muscled chest and toned stomach, along with a pair of jeans and sandals.
Theo’s cheeks flush pink and he chuckles. When I reach him, he hands me the tube. “Taste this and tell me what you think.”
I take it from his hands, making sure our fingers brush when I do. The familiar spark I get every time we touch travels through me and straight to my cock. No matter how long I’m with Theo for, it’s always the same when we touch. Like two stars colliding in the night, destined to meet.
I bring the glass to my lips, and he doesn’t take his eyes off me. I sip the red liquid, using all the tricks to taste wine that he’s taught me. The earthy, yet spiced flavor explodes over my taste buds, and I moan.
“This is wonderful.”
“Really?”
“I wouldn’t lie to you.”
He beams at me. “Tell me what you taste.”
“Vanilla,” I sip a bit more. “It’s also floral and spiced.”
His smile widens. “Perfect. That is exactly what I was going for.”
I sip the last of the wine and place the tube on the top of a tall table next to us. I grab him around the waist so our bodies meld together in the way I know he loves. His strong arms wraparound my shoulders, and he cocks his head to the side, eyes twinkling.
“Would you like to know what I’m going to call it?”
“Of course,” I lean forward and nip at his lips.
He chuckles and pushes me back so he can stare into my eyes. “Eros.”
My heart flutters in my chest. “You’re naming it after me?”
“I’ve been attempting to perfect this red for two years now, but couldn’t get it right. Now, I think it finally is.”
