I shake my head. “I’ll grab something at home.”
“Well, it’s still early. We could call on the way back. There’s this great Italian place near our house.”
I look between them. “No, I couldn’t. Thank you, though.” I give them my address, a random one I use, and we head off.
They both glance at each other, and Devon says, “Do you mind if I call at home first? I want to pick up my charger. My phone is about to die, and it’s on the way.”
“No, not at all.” I smile. Their reputations precede them, they’re ruthless killers, but they’re a sucker for the ladies, especially if they think they can share. They do like a little chase, too. “Ah, boys, it’s a shame she’s deadlier than you both put together.”I smirk at his comment. It’s a shame I’m the only one who can hear them. I’ve got time for some fun first. A wave of anger hits me as I think of everything I’ve lost, and I need to tamp that down. I can’t break character. I could just kill them. I will. I just need to let loose a little first, and what better way to get through this than with hot twin sex?
We pull up at theirs. Devon gets out and opens my car door for me. I turn and look at him in confusion, and he grins. “Why don’t you come in for a drink? It’s still early.”
I pull my phone from my bag, make a fuss of checking it, and then nod. “I suppose I could stay for a quick one.” Kingston is already out of the car as Devon reaches in and takes my hand, pulling me towards him. He wraps his fingers around mine and turns, leading me towards the house. When we step inside, it’s nice, really nice. It’s clearly a bachelor pad, but it was done tastefully.
I make a show of looking around, running my hand over all the dark furniture, and smiling over at them. “This is really nice.”
“What were you expecting?” Kingston smiles at me.
“Maybe a bedsit?”
Devon barks out a laugh and grabs my hand. “Come on, beautiful, let me show you around.”
He leads me through the house, and I can feel Kingston at my back. We head into the kitchen, which is spacious and has a big island in the centre. He walks me towards the island, then turns, grips my waist, and lifts me up, sitting me on the counter. I gasp at the gesture, and he chuckles.
He turns to the cabinet and takes out three glasses while Kinston steps up and strokes my cheek. I flutter my eyes at him at the contact. I don’t care how inappropriate it is. I just want to be touched. “How can someone as lovely as you have been stood up.”
“What?” Devon steps towards us. “Stood up? You were in that place on a date.” He shakes his head. “What is wrong with men, nowadays?”
I chuckle. “It’s probably for the best. Who wants a single mum, anyway?”
“Why don’t you let us show you what a night with real men could be like?” Kingston leans in and kisses my cheek, and I shudder.
“What?” I widen my eyes. And flick my gaze between them.
“Let us look after you.” Devon leans in and kisses the other cheek.
“I um, I, err… I.”
Kingston chuckles, “Why don’t you call the babysitter and ask them to stay the night? We’ll take you back in the morning.”
“I erm, I shouldn’t… I…”
Devon smiles. “You really should.” He reaches into my bag on the counter at the side of me and hands me the phone. “Call them.” He pushes his hand into his pocket and pulls out a wad of cash, dropping it into my bag. “For the babysitter.” He winks and turns back to get the drinks.
“I can’t take that, it's…”
“Don’t protest too much, Vic. You want them to still want you.”His voice lingers.
“Nonsense, now call,” Kingston says, tapping the phone. I flick through the contacts and dial. “Hey, Lou… Yeah, okay… I’m going to be late… Should be back in the morning, if that’s okay… You sure?... Thanks, Lou.”
“Lou?” Kingston frowns.
“Louise.” I chuckle.
He smiles back at me. Devon hands me a drink, and I take a swig, but then I cough a little. “That’s strong.”
I grin, and he steps in, grasping my chin between his fingers and leans in, smiling as he gets really close before he flicks his tongue out and over my bottom lip. “Tastes perfect to me.” He leans in a little closer and kisses me ever so gently, the briefest lingering before he pulls back. I breathe deeper. Making my chest rise higher.
And Kington’s eyes flick to my lips before he does the same. “I don’t think a little taste is going to be enough, Jess.”
