It happens again.

What is she doing here?

Her brows furrow as she pauses her hand above the numbers, thinking hard on what it could be.

Alert. Wrong code inputted.

To cancel emergency services, dial 1 now.

I hit the number and then press the key to unlock the gate.

She startles and jumps back when it starts to open for her and then I close down the feed so I can go to the door. I get to it just in time for her to raise her hand to knock.

“Savannah,” Her name rasps from my throat.

“You’re awake,” Her wide eyes clash with mine.

“Were you hoping for a different outcome?” I question, “Seems strange since you’re here.”

“Can I come in?”

I pause. I shouldn’t let her in but it’s my arm pushing the door wider, it’s my body stepping back to give her enough room to enter.

She gives me a small smile and dips beneath my arm, tucking her arms around herself as she pauses in the hall outside the kitchen.

Closing and locking the door behind me, I turn to her, making sure to keep a good six-foot gap between us.

I don’t say a word as I wait for her to speak.

“I need answers,” She eventually says in a rush, “Please, I feel like I am going insane.”

“Why do you think I have them?” I push.

“I don’t know,” There’s a shake to her voice that adds another crack in my soul, “I just…”

Her hand lifts to rub at her sternum as if she is feeling the same pain as me, “Something is leading me here, Killian so please, if you know, if you haveanything, can you tell me?”

I love you.

I would die for you.

You own me.

“I don’t know what you want me to say, Savannah.” I swallow thickly, “There is nothing I can give you.”

Her whole body seems to deflate, “Nothing? Not even the real reason you killed Adrien.”

“I told you. He tried to hurt you, any one of us would have done the same.”

Her eyes drop to the sneakers on her feet, “I can’t sleep.” She whispers, “I haven’t slept in days, I am restless, like my mind is trying so fucking hard to remember but it just keeps hitting a wall. But there’s this thread, this path and every time I follow it, it leads to you.”

There’s a pressure in my throat that’s making it hard to breathe.

“Why are you haunting me, Killian?” She begs, “Why? I am so tired. So fucking tired but I can’t make it stop!”

“Savannah,” I go to step closer, but I stop myself, “You just need to rest.”

Her face crumbles but she nods, “I’ll go home.”
