Did I need the money, no, I didn’t, but would I make the bet just to shut him the fuck up? Absolutely.
“Five thousand.” He offers.
“Is that it? Come on, make it worth my while.” I rollmy eyes.
“As if bedding that woman would be such a hardship,” Bast tuts, “Fine, a hundred.”
“A hundred grand?” I contemplate.
“Sure, why the fuck not,” Bast jokes and then goes all in with his chips.
I almost forgot they were playing poker in the first place.
“Time frame?” I ask.
“A month.”
I scoff, “I’ve got it in the bag.”
“Oh, I saw her,” Sebastian grins as he shows his cards to the rest of the table, “That girl wants nothing to do with you.”
For now. She wants nothing to do with me,for now.
“You’re on,” I get up, walking across the room to shake his hand to seal the deal. His palm slaps on mine in a quick shake before he turns his attention back to the table.
Two aces lay face up, winning him the pot.
“Who’s losing now, fucker?” He brags, dragging all the chips to his side.
He has too much money to play with. With a shake of my head, I head back to the desk, opening my laptop. Her image stares straight at me.
How do I get Olivia to fall in love with me?
It’s dangerous. A game I shouldn’t be playing but I had to wonder what her love might feellike. It’ll be a pity to break her heart when she realizes that’s not my end goal with her.
I just need a wife. And an heir. A pretty little thing to warm my bed.
But I guess it’s hardly a hardship for her, she’s got a comfy life now, though I had a feeling it’ll be a cold day in hell when she accepts that.
I watch the men ahead of me argue of the ethics of Sebastian’s win since they’re all now on their last legs and he’s got a pile of money ahead of him, money they’ll have to pay up by the end of the night, and wonder if she ever did get the courage to go searching for her things.
I’d be able to tell if someone was in my bedroom. It’s a sanctuary. Everything has a place so if one thing is out of order, I’ll know her dainty little fingers had touched it.
And as I replay our interactions from today, I don’t doubt my decision to scrap Regina and replace her with Olivia.
She’ll come crawling. I have no doubt about it.
Chapter Six
The moment I realize exactly whose room I am in, I freeze. Part of me wants to tuck my tail between my legs and hightail it out of here but then…
This ishisspace.
We’re not going to address his comment about my things being where theybelong, he can shove that up his ass if he thinks I’ll be spending time anywhere near him and his bedroom.
But this room tells a whole story.
It’s sotidy.
