Ragna raises a brow at me. “Every single shifter in this castle knew you were mated the moment you stepped inside. We can smell it. I could have told Need your secret at any point. But I didn’t. Instead, I ordered every last shifter to keep their mouth shut.”
“And they just blindly listened? No. Not even a realm leader has that much power. So, what the fuck aren’t you telling us?” Sin presses, now sounding even more suspicious.
Ragna gives him a wolfish grin, showing all her teeth.
I shove out of my chair, ready to annihilate her if she tries to hurt Sin.
The red glow in the room deepens.
“Trying to read my thoughts? Go ahead and try,” she all but growls. “The shifters listen to my orders, not because I am their leader, but because I am theirgod.”
Power echoes through the room as she says the word, making the hair on my arms stand on end.
Sin looks thunderstruck as he slowly shakes his head. He pulls back his power, and the room is once again cast in dim golden light.
“Find what you were looking for?” She asks, mildly.
Rather than answering, Sin scowls at her, storming over to wrap a protective arm around me. “How fucking could you?” He growls out the accusation.
Ragna raises a brow, not bothering to respond.
I clear my throat. “So… that’s it? We’re backing down because she’s a god? Goddess?”
It feels like I’ve missed something important.
“No, Vivian. Your Destroyer is backing down because he’s satisfied that I’m not a threat to you,” Ragna corrects.
I’m still watching Sin. His face is pale, and my anxiety creeps higher.
The volatile power inside me gives a small crack. “But not because she’s a goddess?”
He turns to face me, and there’s a fierce anger in his eyes. “No, kitten. Because she’s your Aunt.”
Chapter 57
Vivian’s Point of View
Rule fifty-seven:If you’re going to accidentally cause the apocalypse, do it because of daddy issues.
“What?” It comes out as a harsh whisper. The disbelief hits first, because there’s no way.
Ragna’s expression softens as her gaze meets mine. “It’s true. I suspected it the moment I met you, but I only became certain of it yesterday, after the titan stormed into headquarters.”
“Explain,” Sin growls. His arm is still wrapped around me, feeling like a tether as my mind tries to riot.
“I suspected it because they look almost identical. But I was certain once the titan tried to freeze everyone in the room. He wasn’t able to touch her, because like me, divine blood flows through her veins.”
I shake my head. “No, he left me mobile so he could ask me about Nymara.”
Ragna scoffs. “He did not. I saw it happen. The titan’s power extended across the entire room.”
My brow lowers as I try to remember the attack, but Sin interjects, “Who looks identical?”
“Vivian, of course. You and your sister could pass for twins,” Ragna answers matter-of-factly.
“The girl in the Beast Realm,” I whisper, almost to myself.
Ragna nods encouragingly, like she’s pleased with how I’m taking the news. “She’s your half-sister. You’re a year older than she is.”
