“It is, and better than most restaurants, if I do say so myself.”
“Agreed.”
“You ready to tell me about Livvy?”
“I got nothing to hide. We fucked around for about a year, but nothing serious. The last time we hooked up, she asked if we could be exclusive. I wasn’t interested. End of story.”
“How long ago was this?”
“Not long before I met you. She’s been hitting me up, but I’ve been ignoring her.”
“Why didn’t you just tell her?”
“I thought she could take a hint, but she’s more persistent than I realized.”
“If you were done with her, why didn’t you block her weeks ago?”
“I planned to talk to her eventually. Livvy is cool, but she was never the one, and I told her straight up. I’m sure a million things are running through that beautiful head of yours, but I swear I ain’t entertained another soul since the day we met.”
“How many Livvys do I need to be concerned about?”
“First off, if you haven’t realized it yet, you’re it for me. Other women are a thing of the past. I’ll admit, I haven’t made cuttingties with them a priority, but I haven’t communicated with them either.”
“I hear you, Sylas, and I believe you . . . How many?”
I chuckled because my baby wasn’t about to let this go.
“Five, six, seven . . . but only a couple live in the Chicagoland area.”
“Damn, nigga. You got bitches across the globe?”
“Nah, but as Maison says, I had hos in different area codes.”
She gasped. “Wow!”
“I’m just being honest, baby. When we finish eating, you can look through all my messages and block all their numbers.”
“I’d rather not. That’s your responsibility, and it would be in your best interest to make it a priority.”
“I gotchu, beautiful. Now, can I have you for dessert?”
I cringed when I read my mother’s text stating my father wanted to go toPerry’s. I suggested other restaurants, but Spencer McCoy was hell-bent on having the Perry’s famous pork chop. Since I couldn’t convince him to dine elsewhere, I had to give Khiya a heads-up.
While she finished getting dressed, I waited for her in the living room and decided to text my sister and Maison. They would be joining us for dinner, and both knew that Livvy worked there and how disastrous this could be if she worked tonight.
Me:
Why didn’t one of y’all talk Pops outta going to Perry’s?
Maison:
Because the food is good and I could use some entertainment
TayTay:
And I want their corn brûlée.
