I thought it would be nice as a small gesture of my feelings while I go on this mission. I didn’t want to just leave him without telling him where I was going. I know I’m not easy to love.

I fold the square and slip it back into my pocket.

Tossing my hair, I look around, smiling as I try to calm the odd sting in my chest. Maybe I’ll just go get myself a pumpkin spice latte. I can walk alone if I have to.

I look out in the distance towards where the shopping area is alight with lanterns and pumpkins, and make my way towards it. I am not going to let my evening go to waste.

Standing in line, I’m almost at the counter when I realise just how many students are here, and to place an order, I’m going to have to speak… I don’t want word regarding my voice getting out until I’m back.

Hesitating, I turn, ready to leave, when I almost bump into someone.

“Now, seriously, Blondie, are you stalking me?” Theo drawls, and I look up to see him smirking like usual. Shaking my head, I’m about to walk off when he cocks a brow. “You here for a drink, aren’t you?”

I purse my lips and look away haughtily. He smirks, slinging his arm around my shoulders. “What do you want?”

I open my mouth, and he simply snickers. “I like this. Iain’t getting a headache,” he taunts.

Frowning, I glare at him, about to push him away, when he motions to the menu.

I do want a latte…

I hesitate for a moment before holding my hand palm upwards in front of me, and with my other hand, write,

A pumpkin spice latte with extra cream and orange sprinkles.

“Anything else?” he asks, and I shake my head, narrowing my eyes suspiciously. “Hey, I’m being nice.”

I snort, rolling my eyes, and he moves away. “Don’t believe me,” he adds, walking over to the counter to place the order. “Get me a cappuccino and a pumpkin spice latte with extra cream and orange sprinkles.”

I follow him, taking out my purse. I am about to place a ten-pound note on the counter, but he stops me, placing a hand over mine. “You ain’t paying, Blondie.”

Urgh, right now, not having my voice sucks! Once everyone knows, it won’t be an issue, but having to keep it on the low right now is annoying. I can feel a couple of people watching us, too, so I simply nod, but I don’t put the ten pounds back in my purse.

“Sure you don’t want a muffin or anything?”

I shake my head, and when Theo pays and reaches over for the two foam cups, I slip the ten-pound note into his jacket pocket discreetly and step back as he turns, passing me my latte.

Smiling, I mouth, ‘thank you’. Turning, I walk into the darkness. I’ll go find an empty bench. I feel his presence behind me before he falls in step beside me.

“So, are we set for tomorrow?” he asks.

I nod and write,

Yes, I have everything I think we’ll need. Have you packed weapons and stuff?

He nods. “Yeah, Imma take a weapon I’ve been training with. I guess my brothers will learn my secret, too, init.”

You all have a good bond; I am sure they will find it quite impressive.

I write, licking the top of my cream and enjoying the sweetness. Mmm. I cup my mug with both hands, allowing the heat to warm my fingers that are getting cold.

“Life ain’t easy as that, Blondie.”

True.I nod thoughtfully. But I do believe being honest with those you care for helps a lot. Sometimes keeping secrets creates more trouble than good. And your gift is not too bad.

He shrugs. “I guess so, but not all power is good.”

But even darkness can be used for good. Demon power, lycan power, they are all darkness, but those who wield that power can be heroes,I write, theshimmering letters fading.
