That was a bit too much, it’s not like I’ve never been touched by a man, but it just felt a bit – oh my gosh, I need to go to bed! This night has just been too long. And crazy!

I spin on my heel to leave, but my foot catches on Theo’s. I stumble forward, bracing for impact with the floor, only for his leg to shoot up, catching me neatly across the waist. The sudden pressure redirects my fall, and instead of face-planting into the ground, I land with an undignified bounce onto the sofa behind me.

“I don’t think I’m the only one who needs sleep,” he drawls, voice laced with mockery.

Heat floods my face. I scramble up and glare at him before I toss my braid and storm toward the stairs. “You have such ridiculously big feet!” I snap.

“What can I say? We Westwood men don’t come in small sizes.” His low chuckle follows me up the stairs as I flee as fast as possible.

“HEAVEN!”

I blink as I shoot up, my heart pounding.

“What?” I ask Allie, who is standing there fully dressed in a black-and-white striped prison top and wide black pants. I love her, but her fashion sense is… unique.

“We’re almost ready to leave. You have been asleep for ages, and so has Theo. You know, people might think something is up?”

My eyes widen. “No one will think that! Oh my gosh, how can you even think that?!” I snap, my cheeks on fire.

Allie narrows her eyes before quirking a brow. “I meant up to something very different from what you’re thinking. Should I be concerned?” she asks flatly.

“Eww, no!”

She nods. “Yeah, I didn’t think so; he ain’t your type.”

“Exactly,” I agree as I get out of bed and whisper a spell to make the bed. At home, I don’t make the bed, but at the Academy, I do. It’s just manners. I pause and look at her. I have a type?

Hmm, that’s a conversation I will continue with her later. Now I’d better go shower before we leave.

Forty minutes later, we’re ready to leave, and I look over at Katara, appreciating how accommodating she was. She’s really pretty, with huge blue eyes and silky blond hair. She’s petite and reminds me of a doll. She’s fourteen now.

“Thank you for letting me sleep in your bed.”

“It’s fine,” she replies, shoving her hands into her pockets. She doesn’t really like talking much, though, to me anyway. I think she’s a bit of an introvert.

I look over at everyone else before turning to the two cars that are headed to the Academy. Jayce is on his bike. I realise it’s not the bike Sienna got for him… Then there’s Ares, who is driving his own car, and Theo has his.

We need to be with Theo so we can talk. I motion to Allie about this when Renji comes out, slinging an arm around her shoulders. “You, Heaven and I can go with Ares; Carter can go with Theo.”

“Good plan. I don’t want Theo and Alessandra fighting,” Aunty Scarlett says.

Ares narrows his eyes but shrugs. “Whatever. Get in.”

“No, I want to go with Theo. Theo, you want me, right?!” Allie shouts, although her tone says anything but.

Theo looks over at us. “There’s no way Zombilesandra is getting in my car! Come on, Carter!”

That – asshole!

He winks at me before he pops on some shades and gets in the driver’s seat.

Oh, he knew exactly what he was doing. How I hate this man!

Well, if that’s how he wants to play it. Fine.

“Come on, Allie. We’ll have a better journey with Renji to accompany us,” I say haughtily. Security is tight, and I can feel the magic that will come into play the moment we leave pack territory. Jayce is ahead, but he’s waiting for us.

Renji smiles as he helps get our bags into the car trunk. Once we’ve bid everyone farewell and are in the car, I wait.
