I just stare at her completely stunned. There’s no denying the sincerity in her voice. She believes the crap that she’s spouting. I have no idea how or why, but she does.
“You’re completely fucked in the head,” I announce, able to breathe a little better. I still plan on killing Apex, but I have enough control to do it later when Beau isn’t around to hold me back.
“That’s not nice,” she breathes, still holding onto my arm. I turn so that I’m facing her and regretfully, that makes her let me go. I put a hand on each of her hips, not letting her put distance between us.
“It might not be nice, but it’s true. The motherfucker has a dick and he’s breathing. You’re all that is you. Therefore, you’re his type. I’m just going to make it clear to him that you’re not on the market.”
“Now you’re just talking crazy. You’ll do nothing. It’s my job to deal with Drew?—”
“Donotcall him by his name again, Beau.”
“Why not? He told me to?”
“You can call me by my name. You’re the only person that does and I like it. You aren’t calling him by his name. You don’t belong to him. He isn’t your man. I am,” I explain as if talking to a damn child. How she can’t grasp this, I don’t know, but I will make it clear.
“You’re not?—”
“Iam,” I correct, not letting her deny who I am to her and who she is to me. “And another thing, if you don’t want me killing him, then you will make sure you don’t call him by his name. You’ll also make it clear that he has no fucking hope to get with you. If you don’t, Beau, I swear to God, I will choke the life out of him.”
“He’s your friend—a brother in your club even,” she reasons.
“I don’t give a fuck who he is. There’s no one more important than you and Ty in my life. Not one fucking person. Apex tries to come between that, I’ll end him. So, you need to make it clear he better back the fuck off.”
“Hunter, we’ve basically had one date.”
“Babe, I still remember the taste of you on my tongue and how your nails feel biting into my ass as I’m fucking you hard. I don’t give a shit how many so-called dates we’ve had. This past week, I wake up and call you because I need to hear your voice before I start my day. I go to sleep with your voice being the last one in my ear. That’s something I’m going to make permanent. The only reason I haven’t already made those moves is because I wanted to give you time to adjust to the idea.”
“Time? It’s barely been a week since we started talking to one another again!”
“I know. I should have moved quicker. You should thank me for being considerate.”
“Considerate?”
“Exactly. Of course, if I’d known you’d be here trying to give other men what belongs to me?—”
“I didn’t try to do anything! I also don’t belong to you.”
“Time to remind you once more,” I growl.
I wrap one hand into her hair as I slam my lips back down on hers. I don’t have to fight for entry. She immediately opens for me. She goes up on the tips of her toes, her fingers bite into the back of my neck as she holds on, and her tongue fights mine for dominance. The kiss is fiery and hot. It’s proof that she wants me as much as I want her. It’s lust, need, desire, and pure emotion all wrapped up in one combustible kiss that feels like it sets my world on fire. I lose sight of time and place. I’m completely lost in her. I don’t remember pushing her shirt and bra up. Yet, I’ll remember for the rest of my life the way it feels to have my hand cupping her breast, the feel of her nipple pressing against my palm and the sweet whimper of pleasure she gives as our mouths separate to drag oxygen in.
“I’m there tonight and you’re going to spend your time with me, Beau.”
“Do you know you’ve called me Beau the entire time we’ve been fighting?”
“That’s your name,” I point out, dropping my head down so I can nibble on her neck.
“God,” she moans.
“You like that, baby?”
“You know I do. Why aren’t you calling me Harper?”
“I don’t know. I was so pissed that I barely know my own name,” I gripe.
“Hunter …”
“No one kisses you but me.”
