EPILOGUE

SEAN

“And do you plan to let her work? Let her do whatever she wants?” Maya, Chelsea’s scary friend, interrogated me in the kitchen as the guests mingled with each other.

It had been a month since Jesse tried to threaten my girlfriend and she had stood up for herself. She had started freelancing and helping small businesses with marketing, branding, and design. I was glad she was enjoying her work since Paige had returned after her maternity leave.

I nodded. “She’s already made designs for the new bakery opening down the street.”

Maya was her childhood friend and the complete opposite of her, with a sharp look on her face. Chelsea had protective friends.

She sighed and sipped on the drink. “I was joking about her finding a sugar daddy.”

I raised my brow and glanced in the living room as our friends and family talked with each other over the jazz music. My chest felt warm seeing her laugh at something Emma had said, her blue eyes bright, matching with the dress I had bought for her. The bracelet on her wrist glittered. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. She brightened up my day just by existing and breathing the same air as me. I wished I could give her the moon, but even that wouldn’t be enough to show her the love I had for my Princess.

My mom had urged me to throw a party after my recovery and hard-launch Chelsea as my girlfriend—her words, not mine—even though she didn’t know I had already proposed to Chelsea in private. We had invited our close friends and family to Emma and Cillian’s mansion to have a barbecue party.

After talking with Maya, asking her about her studies and making small-talk about my work, we parted ways on good terms. I made my way to the backyard, seeing Cillian and James talk in one-word-sentences with a cold look on their faces.

Some would think they were planning each other’s demises, but I knew they were being friendly.

They were just in their natural state.

“Hey fellas,” I said with my charming smile as the delicious smell of burgers wafted in my nose. “Something I can help you with?”

Cillian expertly grilled the patties and gave me a side-eye. “You can sit down, prep boy.”

“Hey,” I punched him lightly on the arm and took a swig of the cold beer, the sun bearing down on us. “We both went to prep school.”

“Dad, do you think I should hire a midwife?” Caleb prowled to us, a frown between his brows. He was Cillian’s son and his wife, Anna, was pregnant while Kyle, their husband, was chatting with Aiden and Damon about stocks near the bar. I still couldn’t believe the boy I used to babysit bagged not one, but two people.

I was proud of him.

“You’re overreacting,” James answered and thanked the caterer, who passed us with a tray full of alcoholic drinks. “Anna is still in first trimester, yeah?”

Caleb frowned. “Still, I’m worried.”

“She had two kids before,” I said, eyeing Alice, her daughter, running around with Noah in the backyard. “She’ll be fine.”

“Hi!” My eyes lit up as Chelsea walked towards us, her body fitting perfectly in my arms. I pressed my lips on her temple.

“Hey, you,” I whispered, my hands curving over the short summer dress she had on. I wished I could whisk her away somewhere and eat her out with the dress on.

“Chelsea, I wanted to ask a favor,” Cillian started when James took over the grilling. I eyed his smirk and knew he was up-to no good. “Can you call meoppa?”

“Hey!” Me and Caleb said in unison while my girlfriend frowned at my best-friend.

“Uh-huh, just give it a try.”

“Oppa?” Chelsea said, her adorable face making my heart race. She tilted her head at me and asked, “What does that mean?”

“You don’t need to call him that, okay?” I said to her, glaring at Cillian. “It’s only for me. You can call meoppabut never other men.”

She rolled her eyes and smiled at Caleb. “How have you been? Anna talked about your issue with?—”

“Chelsea!” Caleb yelled and dragged her away. “Let’s talk somewhere else.”

I pouted when they went further away and talked by the edge of the pool. “Why does my best-friend and his son keep stealing away my girlfriend?” I said, sulking and taking a sip from the cold beer.
