I was packing the last of my things from the apartment when the doorbell rang. Sean was going to pick me up after visiting his firm.

Maybe he finished his work early?

I opened the door and my heart dropped to my stomach. I wished I had checked the peephole before unlocking the door.

“Fucking finally,” Jesse said harshly, making his way into the apartment and running his hand through his hair. “Do you know how hard it was to find you?”

“What the hell are you doing here?” I crossed my arms. I didn’t want him to see how uneasy I was in his presence. Rory was out, and I was alone in the apartment. With my ex.

I hoped Sean would come early.

He stalked around the hall and chuckled, rolling his eyes. “I’m here to get you back. What else?” He tilted his head. “Why did you block my number, huh?”

I frowned at him. “Because you were being an asshole, sending me those creepy texts. I don’t care why you’re here, but you need to leave. My boyfriend is on his way.” I opened the front door and waited.

His face twisted. “I’m not leaving without you. I know that the old man is your boyfriend. That creep is buying you in return for sexual favors, Chels. I know everything.”

“No, you don’t.” I deadpanned. “Just leave me alone, Jesse.”

He pulled out his phone and prowled towards me, my heart rate increasing. I could still run out of the apartment, but I would be without my phone and I was done running away from him.

“He does this to you. He’s some pedo who enjoys writing this shit on you!”

My eyes widened and cold sweat broke out on the nape of my neck. It was a blurry picture of me in my room back at my mother’s house. He definitely took that photo from his room when I was changing. I could make out ‘Daddy’s Princess’ on my chest, but with my face hidden by my hair, I wasn’t recognizable.

“What’s this?” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

“That’s you, Chels!” He yelled. “I know it’s you!”

I kept my chin high and said, “It’s not me. You need to move on and leave me the fuck alone. If you don’t, I’m calling the cops and getting a restraining order.”

His eyes darkened, and he closed the door, backing me into the corner. “Call him. Call him right now and break up with him. You’re coming back with me to Coral Springs. You will understand how good I treated you and how good our sex was?—”

I slapped him, my palm stinging with the burn, and glared at his reddening cheek. “Snap out of it, Jesse!”

I turned to twist the knob of the front door to open it and get out of the apartment, but he closed it again, pressing his body close until our clothes were touching. A shudder rolled through my body, my hands pushing him away.

“No,” he gritted his teeth, ignoring my protest. “If you don’t breakup with him, I’ll post this picture online. Everyone will see what a dirty little bitch you are.”

My jaw clenched as I glared up at him. What the hell is his problem? He never liked me when we were dating, and now he wants me back because of Sean?

“Come back with me, Chels. I will treat you better,” he muttered, his eyes roving through my body and making my blood boil. “I promise I’ll be good to you.”

“Fine,” I said, clearing my throat. “Let me call him and break up with him. That’s what you want, right?”

His eyes lit up as he followed me to my room when I picked up my phone and dialed Sean’s number. Jesse asked me to keep it on speakers and I relented.

“Hi, Princess, I’m on my way,” Sean said as soon as he answered my call, his deep voice making me feel relieved.

Eyeing Jesse, I said, “You don’t have to. We cannot go out to look for bunnies today.”

I heard the brakes in his car and knew he had figured it out. “Why not?” He asked, his voice leveled.

Licking my lips, I replied, “Because I’m breaking up with you.”

“What?”

“I think you’re too old, and… I miss my ex.” I wished I could throw the phone on Jesse’s smirking face.
