“I thought using your powers made those things appear?”
“Only if I use a lot of power. I’m merely making them see a shadow of myself fighting my raging hard-on.”
I try to kiss her again, but she presses her finger to my lips. “But?—”
I rise from the sofa abruptly, pull her to her feet, and drag her out of the room full of humans. Because she’s right. If I keep the glamor up much longer, Iwillstart leaving too much demon residue.
We barely make it to the main staircase before I’m pressing her to the wall and crushing my mouth to hers. I can’t wait. I need her now.
Claiming her so she knows she belongs to me is the only thing that will put a stop to this back-and-forth. I’ve fucked her once, kissed her, eaten her pussy—but those obviously weren’t enough to get that into her skull.
“It was never just sex,” I whisper against her lips. “It’s not mindless to me.”
The widening of her eyes is all I need to kiss her harder—my tongue slides into her mouth just as her knee hikes up to my hip, and I hold it there, pressing her into the wall.
Fuck. I could kiss her for the rest of my existence. Nothing will beat this—her body molds to mine, and my cock hardens at the little whimpers that escape her between each stroke of our tongues, tasting each other as we deepen our movements.
The shrieks of the humans have us halting, our heads snapping in the direction of the screams.
“What the fuck was that?” one of them yells. “Did that picture frame just fly off the wall on its own?”
Fuck my soul. What now?
“Come on,” Sable says, huffing and pushing me back to put distance between us. She runs down the stairs then pauses, making me crash into her back and nearly tumbling us both to the ground.
My gaze lifts from the back of her head.
The shadow of a Tor’Oth comes straight for us. The humans are confused but clueless as I shove Sable to the side and order her to hide in her room. Then I grab the fucker and teleport us to the field before it fully shows itself to the humans and they call the cops. My patience is wearing thin with those assholes.
My demon form rips out, taking away some of its advantage, and I drive my fist into the shadow, knocking it backward. On my next punch, my tail whips round to wrap around its neck, holding it there, before I toss it across the lawn, so hard it crashes into a tree and drops with athud. In Hell, the Tor’Oth were feared. Used to torture the worst people with the greatest sins. If I ever return, it’s likely I’d be their target.
I would’ve run the opposite direction in Hell, yet here I am, defending my dead girl as I stalk toward it, gathering as much power behind my fist as demonly possible.
I push as much of that power out as I can, slamming a ball of shadows into its torso and knocking it back, the burning pain echoing likely all the way down to Hell.
It’s back up and pouncing on me before I can build more power. I stop breathing as its claws sink into my arm and tear the skin open.
I kick it off me and hold my wound, feeling the flesh already starting to knit together. I’m not quick enough to get away before it comes for me again.
As soon as it pushes into me, I teleport once more to the furthest part of the property lines and shove it to the ground.
“That’s two of you now,” I say with a threatening tone, my power building so high, my veins are singing. “There won’t be a third. I swear, if more come and try to do a thing to my girl, I will raze the entirety of fucking Hell.”
Thanks to my need to talk and not get this over with, its claw catches my ribs, but it startles in my grip as something thumps up behind me.
Tidus.
I’m knocked aside as the soul sucker charges at the hound, but Tidus roars, and in the next moment the sky lights up, a flash blinding me, and a ball of fire rushes toward the Tor’Oth, burning it to nothing.
Tidus licks his lips and faces me. Sitting, he pants and watches me as if he’s in the best mood ever.
“Since when could you breathe fire, you little dragon fuck?”

My heart hammers against my ribs as I charge down the front steps in search of Lynx. Adrenaline has cold sweat beading along my spine. The cold pierces me deeper than my bones.
