I watch, hypnotized as he licks his lips slowly.

Seductively.

Maybe it’s the adrenaline or the way that I haven’t slept with anyone in years, or maybe it’s the way this man looks at me like he wants to steal my soul, but I find myself leaning into him. Moving closer to him as he leans down.

“Ahhhh!”

We break apart, heart racing at a group of people pushing their way in screaming while being chased by the bloody butcher. He pulls my wrist and we’re off running again through the maze of rooms. This time we end up in a room that seems to press in on us as we squeeze through. The ceiling dips and walls shrink together,

“Crawl, you fucking pigs!”

A disembodied voice crackles through what appears to be coming from every direction. It’s just a sound system, I tell myself, though the way the voice traveled across my skin felt so fucking real.

The stranger crawls through the space first, and I follow, dropping to the ground, grateful for my leggings.

The floor feels disgustingly sticky against my palms as we crawl deeper, the lights getting dimmer as we go until it’s completely pitch black.

My fingers graze against something stringy dangling down. Without being able to see what it is, my brain goes wild, imagining all the things it could be. Spiderwebs? Please, don’t let it be spiderwebs.

More and more strings come as I push forward. It touches my hair, my neck, sliding over my shoulders. My face gets caught in one and I let out a scream, trying to back up, swatting at where I think the thing is only to meet nothing but air.

I don’t know why I let Callie talk me into this. My skin is crawling, and I feel the need to get out, out, out.

“This way.” The stranger calls out, and I go, crawling as fast as I can until a bright light emerges and I tumble down into a pit of blood red balls. The walls are moving with a projection of spiders crawling up and down them. Bodies wrapped in spiderwebs writhe. Their screams are muffled, and I remind myself again that this isn’t real.

Swatting at my own face, I try to get the feeling of the strings off me.

He pulls a white spiderweb from my hair and I can feel my bottom lip quivering from having an overwhelm of emotions.

My friends are nowhere to be found, my kids are out with their dead-beat dad doing god knows what, and now I’m trapped in this haunted house with a guy who’s name I don’t even know.

He wipes a stray tear from my eyes looking down at me with such intensity I can feel it all the way to my toes. Lights flash around the room, making it seem like he’s moving in slow motion as he leans in close, pushing me against the wall of the ball pit. “Don’t be scared.” He whispers before closing his mouth over mine.

I let him kiss me, leaning into his hard chest and wrapping my arms around his neck. My fingers find his hair and I pull a little on the short strands as he ravages my mouth. His tongue slides against mine and I welcome it. Tasting him sends a jolt of heat down into my core. I feel alive. Every bit of my body craves to be touched, to be taken by him and that scares me.

My pulse rushes and I lose all sense of time. His hands roam up my body and I arch into him. Wanting him to feel me.

“I can’t wait to savor all you have to give.” He says breaking apart our kiss and working his cool lips up my neck.

“I don’t even know your name.” I whisper back biting down on his bottom lip as he wraps his hands into my hair deepening our kiss.

“Get back to work!” A voice booms overhead and he pulls back suddenly, chuckling darkly. He places a finger over my lips. “Run. I’ll come and find you.” He instructs with another kiss.

When my eyes flutter open, he’s gone and I’m alone in the room with nothing but the animatronics. flashing lights and an eerie feeling that I’m being watched.

“Run!” His voice calls again, but I have no idea where it’s coming from.

Goosebumps erupt on my skin, my heart racing with an ominous sensation that something dangerous is looming close by. I don’t hesitate to get the fuck out of here and take off into the next room at full speed.

Chapter 5

Phantom

Maybe it’s wrong to trick her into thinking I’m a regular person and not a fucking ghost, but it allows me to be close to her. And fuck, those lips of hers are downright sinful. I can’t help but imagine those plush, wet beautiful things wrapped around my cock. I bet she can take it all the way to the back of her throat.

There’s five rooms between the one she’s in now, and the one I’m tasked to haunt by my boss.

Normally, I wouldn’t try and cross Talon and his rules, but there’s just something irresistible about this girl that has me willing to break them.
