“Seriously?”
He folds his arms over his chest, and slouches back in the chair, his legs spread wide.
“I can’t believe you’re literally giving me the silent treatment, like I didn’t just have your cock in my mouth like two days ago.”
“I am not the one you seek.” Sloan says, but it sounds wrong. It sounds deeper.
I squint my eyes at him and note the tick in his jaw. “Sloth.” I whisper.
His head snaps to me and he sits up slowly.
I gasp, scrambling to stand and put some distance between us. He blocks the way between me and the door out of the basement. I glance over at the hidden door that we’re watching over, considering my options.
“Do not fear me, princess.” He says, still seated.
“Where’s Sloan?” I demand, my hands shake as I hold the walkie. If I call out to my friends, I could possibly wake any monsters in that tunnel with them.
“He’s sleeping.” Sloth says with a shrug.
“Why are you here?”
“Because I was needed.”
“Why were you needed?”
“You try my patience, Daughter of Spring.” He growls.
“Why do you demons keep calling me that?”
He sits back, assessing me. I feel a chill worm its way down my spine as his eyes linger on my body. “You’re safer with me here, than in there. I promise, little princess.”
“I find it hard to believe a demon is safer than a tunnel.” I say crossing my arms and attempt to exude confidence I don’t feel.
“You don’t know the kind of monsters that roam under your very feet.”
“What’s down there?” I ask.
A squawk comes from the walkie. I lift it to listen only catching a garbled noise that sounds faintly like Garrison.
Sloth stands, stalking over to me as I go to open the door. “Don’t. You’ll let it in.” He says using his height to tower over me.
“Get out of my way, demon.”
“Make me, princess.” He smirks, and it’s unnerving how like Sloan he looks right now. Wearing his skin like a Buffalo Bill cosplay.
“I don’t have time for this, our friends need us to open that door!” I yell, shoving at his chest.
“They’re not my friends.”
“Then give me back Sloan, right now.”
“Make me.”
I grab him by his shirt and shove him backwards, hitting his body into the wall and activating the hidden brick that opens the door.
“You little bitch. You have no idea what you’re letting in here.” He scrambles to grab the metal bat he left on the floor.
I hear a howl and a scream that sounds like Salem coming from the tunnel. I snatch my bat and ready myself to hit whatever thing comes out of there. I look over at Sloan… Sloth, and see him eye the brick to close the door.
