Satisfied.

What have I done?

Chapter 57

Damien

Deltoid. Trapezius. Semispinalis. Rhomboid major. Latissimus dorsi. Teres minor. Teres major.

Every muscle in his back, and every piece I'll carve off his body if he's hurt her.

My eyes lock on Stefan instantly. He knows that even if the earth cracked open beneath him, Hell itself would spit him back out so I could finish what I'm about to start.

My fist connects with his jaw.

Breathe.

That red wave tries to swallow my mind again. My hands shake.

Breathe.

Roxanne needs you sharp, not drowning in rage.

"HOW THE HELL DID THEY WALK OUT OF THAT ROOM WITHOUT YOU SEEING THEM?" I roar at Pavel.

"Adjacent rooms. We didn't think—"

"Apparently before I hire anyone, I need to crack open their skull and make sure there's actually a brain inside."

Both of them drop their heads. Stefan extends his palm.

Her engagement ring. The one with the GPS tracker. I close my eyes.

"It was left on the bed," Stefan mutters.

My phone rings. This better be good news, or this hospital won't be standing by morning.

"Henry Sorrento doesn't own any property in Chicago," Maksim's voice comes through.

"Try Antonio Caserta." I pace in tight circles.

Deltoid. Trapezius. Rhomboid major. Maybe I'll start with the facial muscles instead.

Hmm.

"Bingo," my best friend's twin says.

"Send me the address." That's all I need to hear.

Roman falls in behind me, and I motion for us to move. After I got confirmation about Roxanne's uncle, I realized why that name rang a bell. Caserta was the town near Naples where Elena lived. All of this was in her file, but my mind glossed over that detail.

Bastard. My only consolation right now is knowing—deep in my gut—that he won't hurt Roxanne. Somehow, in his twisted way, he loves her. But he's not the only threat. There's someone else. Someone we know nothing about. Someone younger.

"Think they'll still be there?" Roman asks.

"Yes."

I don't know why I'm so certain, but his obsession has stretched across decades. He'll want to justify himself to her face. He'll want her to choose him willingly, not because she's forced.
