“Warrior. I know,” Cat shakes her head. “What are the odds of that?”

“Pretty damn good, I think,” I smirk.

“So that tattoo,” Cat points to my right shoulder and chest.

“Incorporates symbols of both gods,” I finish.

I’m about to tell her the rest when her phone rings.

“Saber,” she answers.

Her eyes dart to mine. She nods and affirms we’re on our way, then hangs up.

“Where are we going?”

“There’s movement at the location near here,” Cat eases out of bed and begins getting dressed. “We’re meeting a strike squad there.”

I slip out of bed and grab my clothes.

Part two of our story would have to wait.

Chapter 34

“That explains a lot.”

-Cat

I’m not one to believe in deities or divine intervention, but the way Ryker - he’s still Ryker to me - told the story and showed me his scar, it was hard not to believe what he was telling me.

I had a feeling there was more to it than that, but it would have to wait until we brought in our fugitives.

“How’s your shoulder?” Ryker glances at me from the corner of his eye.

“It’ll do,” I check my weapons as he drives. “Sleep helped.”

A smile ghosts the corners of his mouth. “You slept pretty hard.”

“Yeah, well, you did promise to fuck me until I passed out, so - thanks for that,” I laugh.

I laugh louder when he wiggles in his seat.

My phone rings again. I put Celia and Tatiana on speakerphone. “Talk to me.”

“There was movement about forty minutes ago,” Tatiana answers. “We can’t make out faces. Right now, we only know of one target in the house, but there could be more.”

“How long have you had eyes on the location?” Ryker asks.

“Since we decoded the messages, so not long,” Celia responds. “Tatiana is combing through our satellite backlogs for any idea how many people entered the cabin, but that’s going to take time.”

“I can’t believe it,” the sexy-as-sin warrior beside me scoffs. “T taking longer than five minutes to crack the code of something?”

“I should’ve let Cat put a cap in your ass,” Tatiana grumbles.

I laugh. “She’s got you there, Ryker.”

We pull to a stop at the end of a dirt road that leads back to the house in question.

I ease out of my seatbelt. “What’s the ETA of our backup?”
