I stare at his stupid sexy eyebrow on his stupid sexy face and try to clear my stupid lusty haze. “No. But I understand the basics. Hang on. Don’t fall off.”

“Got it. Good -woman,” Ryker winks and starts up the bike. “Get on.”

I’d like to get on him.Coochie Mama is in rare form today.

I tell her to shut her face.

She reminds me she doesn’t have a face, only lips.

I remind her that he’s an asshole who spewed misogynistic garbage out of his face all day.

I finish it up by singing show tunes in my head to drown out her objections.

“Where to?”

“We need to lay low for a few hours and compare notes,” Ryker shouts over the rumble of the Harley. “Somewhere off the grid.”

I wave around. “We’re off the grid now.”

“Not far enough,” Ryker guns the engine and heads out on the highway.

Chapter 13

“Physical. Yes.”

-Ryker

We rode around for two hours, backtracking and shaking off any tails. I planned to get us to the motel Tatiana earmarked as a safe spot, but I couldn’t go directly there if another kill squad were after us.

And I had no doubt - those goons were a kill squad.

What I didn’t know was - who sent them?

The sun is about to set when I steer the Harley into The Clean Sleep parking lot. The motel appears to charge by the hour, and I briefly wonder how often they change the sheets.

Even though I’m exhausted from the adrenaline crash, I hate to turn off the engine. It didn’t take long after we left the diner for Cat to wrap her arms around my waist and hold on tight. Her fingers clenched my shirt tightly, making fists that bumped into my ribs the entire afternoon. Her thighs pressed into my ass, which meant I rode around with a non-stop hard-on. All damn day.

I didn’t hate it.

Sadness overtakes me as I turn off the bike and nudge down the kickstand. Cat loosens her grip on my shirt and eases back on the seat.

I sneak a glance over my shoulder at her. My heart thuds in my chest at her blue eyes staring lasers at me underneath the helmet. I loaned her my jacket so she’d stay warm on the ride, but she’s swimming in the damn thing.

And it’s fucking adorable.

“Tired?”

She nods. “I had no idea riding a motorcycle was so -physical.”

My cock twitches. Damn it. I would need a minute before I could walk in a straight line. I nod. It is physical. And it’s also…

“Freeing.”

I blink. “Yeah. It is.”

“Huh,” Cat frowns and pops off the bike, nearly collapsing on the gravel parking lot.

I’m beside her in an instant.
