Flint points at her. “You hack into shit every damn day. I don’t think you’re one to talk, T.”

“Touché, Samoan Hulk,” Tatiana grins. “By the way, stop trying to clear your internet browsing history. It won’t work.

“For fuck’s sake,” Flint claps a hand over his eyes.

She wiggles her eyebrows at him, then pulls up the files I saw when I entered the room. I look closer.

“We want you to impersonate this guy, Carlson Pyle,” Celia points to the dark-haired man.

The only thing we have in common is hair and eye colors. Marshal Pyle is soft and doesn’t look like he’s left the office in ten years.

I’m still shaking my head. This is madness. Not only is it illegal, but Catalina Saber is sharper than anyone believes.

Plus, we’ve met before.

Sort of.

She’ll recognize me.

I stop pacing. “Why?”

Celia stands next to me and looks up at my face. She has similar eyes to Cat, but they’re not the same. Cat’s are ice blue. Celia’s brown eyes are pleading with me. “There’s a mole.”

“The Marshals?”

It’s Tatiana who answers. “Not clear. Could also be the ATF.”

Betrayed from the inside.

I felt a familiar punch in the gut.

“Not saying I’ll do it,” I squint at Celia before she can interrupt. “But, why the subterfuge?”

“She’s a stubborn woman, Ryker,” Flint answers. “Runs in the family.”

Celia swats him in the stomach. “She won’t accept help from us. She wants to do it by the book. But, she’ll keep us in mind if she runs into trouble. I don’t want to take that chance.”

“And you are going to turn me into,” I point to the screen. “That?”

Tatiana cracks her knuckles. “Oh, you silly man. I can turn you into Carlson Pyle faster than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking competition.”

Whatever that is, it sounds like a terrible idea.

“Please,” Celia places her hand on my arm. “My sister is one of the best trackers, ever. The only person to come close to that would be you.”

“Hey!” Flint shouts.

“And you, too, you big lug,” Celia smiles at her husband before turning back to me. “We don’t know whom she can trust, and I’m not leaving that up to chance. She’s too stubborn to take the help outright. So, I’m sending you in to have her back, no matter what. That is if you take the assignment.”

I sigh.

Whether she realized it or not, Catalina Saber had my back when I needed it the most. And I owed her one.

The fact that I’ve been trackingherfor years didn’t enter my mind at all.

Not one little bit.

“I’ll do it.”
