I couldn’t stop the bubble of laughter welling up. “Thatwasme!”
“Great! Then she should have no trouble tracking down the killer of her ex-husband,” Wysdom smirked at Luke. “Especially when she’s got The Rock’s Body Double as her backup, don’t you think?”
Luke’s mouth opened and closed.
Flint was quiet. Like always.
God, I loved Wysdom. She never took anyone’s bullcrap and always called them out on their bad behavior. Luke once said her smart mouth would get her in a world of trouble, but so far, so good. And she’s talked her way out of danger more times than I could count.
In the end, both men grudgingly agreed to let me be part of the investigation. As we all sat down to The World’s Most Awkward Lunch, I realized it had been a few years since I had been out in the field.
I doubted much had changed since my fieldwork days.
