“Yes.” Alicia spun her, a giddy smile on her face that Clare had never seen before.

“Sometimes the best moments are the most unexpected ones.” Clare slid her hands beneath Alicia’s top to rest against the warm, soft skin on her back.

Alicia giggled as Rue darted between her feet. “This unexpected moment is definitely the best. You just blurted that out of the blue and rocked my whole world.”

“Funny. You appeared outside the bathroom door out of the blue while I was showering three months ago and rockedmywhole world.”

“I guess we’re even then.”

“Guess so. As much as I’d love to take you straight to bed and show you how much I love you, we’d better take this one for a walk on the beach first before she completely loses it.” Clare gestured to her dog, who was circling them at an increasingly frenzied speed. “What do you say?”

“I say yes,” Alicia told her, blue eyes gleaming with happiness. “For you, my answer is always yes.”

Clare’s heart beat a little faster. “That is very good to know.”
