He suddenly smiled, so big and sowarmlythat my heart tripped in my chest. “Thank you, baby. I want you to make me happy, too. And do you know what makes me happy, Rene?”

“No. Tell me. Please,” I asked, almost wanting to wiggle like one of the happy puppies—thehumanpuppies—that had been playing at the park today. He didn’t seem disappointed at all, and Daddy offering to tell me how to make him happy?

It was everything I’d hoped for.

Everything.

But then—

“Makingyoufeel good is what makes me happy,” Daddy said, as if he hadn’t heard a word of what I’d said.

I tried to keep the smile on my face, but inside, I felt crushed. I couldn’t promise him that, because it didn’t feel good when I got so worried, and that meant… that meant I wouldn’t be able to make him happy, after all.

“Hey now, none of that,” he said, wrapping one big hand around the back of my head to hold me. “These beautiful lips of yours should never turn down, baby. Not if I’m doing my job as your Daddy right.”

He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of my mouth, and shivers raced through me.

I gasped, my fingers flying up to touch the spot.

Daddy smiled, capturing them in his own, then smoothing his thumb over the spot he’d kissed instead. “I know that worries you, because the pressure of feeling good for me feels like a lot, doesn’t it?”

I nodded.

“But you’re forgetting, making it happen ismyjob, not yours. And I already knowexactlywhat makes you feel good.”

He did?

“You do?”

Breathless. I feltbreathless.

Daddy gave me a slow, sexy smile that felt like it stopped time. “I do. Having me in charge makes you feel good. Knowing you don’t have to make any decisions makes you feel good. Letting me look out for you, and keep you safe, and protect you makes you feel good.”

He reallydidknow, and suddenly, I wanted to cry for an entirely new reason than before.

Had anyone ever understood me like that? No, because no one had ever cared to try.

“Yes, Daddy,” I whispered, my throat suddenly tight with a whole lifetime’s worth of emotion. “All of that.”

“I know,” he said softly, still staring in my eyes. “Just like I know that you doing what I tell you is going to make you feel good, too.Justwhat I tell you, exactly the way I tell you to do it. Nothing more and nothing less, with nothing to be nervous or anxious or worried about, either, because you’ll know Daddy is in control.”

I nodded, my whole body thrumming with… with something so big I didn’t have a word for it.

“And your only responsibility, Rene—youronlyone, the only thing I need in order for you to please me—is for you to let me have that control, do you understand?”

I nodded again.

“Such a good boy,” he said softly, running his hand over my head again. “Do you remember your safewords?”

I had something better than safewords. Heunderstoodme.

But that wasn’t what Daddy had asked, and the only thing I had to do was answer him. Nothing more, and nothing less.

So I did.

“Yes, Daddy,” I said, everything that wasn’t him falling away.

He smiled. “Tell me what they are.”
