“Wonderful.” Kroven took a large sip from the pouch, a bead of blood dripping down his lip until his tongue lashed out and scooped it.
I resisted the urge to jump. His tongue was purple.
“You can ask me anything you'd like to know or that you think might help you cater to my kind in the future.” He took another pull from the pouch and I tried my best to steel myself.
“Are you able to see?” His eyes were the first thing I had noticed and I blurted out the question without thinking. “I’m sorry if that's insensitive. I just wasn't sure if you could because of how foggy they seem.”
Kroven made a choking sound on the blood and ended up letting out a hearty laugh. It was the kind of laugh that instantly made you smile, the kind of laugh that warmed your heart. Kroven’s was no different and I had to fix my face so I didn’t look like a lovestruck fool. “You humans are so interesting.”When I didn't respond, he added, “Technically, I am blind. My kind deals with almost constant blindness. Until we drink, that is.”
I dropped my mouth to ask what he meant, but then I got to see a live demonstration. His grey eyes started to remove the haze they held, and suddenly, instead of misty irises filled with grey, they were replaced with a vibrant red. Kroven tilted his head and he looked me over like he was seeing me for the first time. My dirty blond hair, cut close to my head. My blue eyes that I had once shared with my mother. And my fairly average and not at all toned body, hidden only by the deep red scrubs I was currently wearing.
Knowing that his eyes were scanning over me made my dick stir in my scrubs, and I had to shift on the couch to hide it.
“There you are.” Kroven crooned. “What is your name, human?”
“Bas.” I tried to look friendly, but I'm sure I looked flustered as fuck as he kept his eyes on me. Which now that I knew he could see me, I was. “My name is Bas.”
“What an unusual name for a human,” he smiled. “Is that one of those names where it's short for something else?”
I smiled at that. “My full name is Sebastian. But I prefer Bas.”
“Sebastian,” Kroven's deep voice uttering my name really made the blood flow to my dick surge and I didn't want my patient to see the kind of reaction he was having on me. Mainly because I didn't understand it myself. Why the hell did he have to be so hot? “A beautiful name for a beautiful man.”
Was he...flirting with me? Before I could dwell on it too much, I lifted off the couch and grabbed Kroven's chart that I had left on the counter, making sure to cover my crotch with it as I turned back to him.
“Well, I should leave you to it. I have to fill out the rest of your chart anyway, so I won't disturb you.”
“I’ve made you uncomfortable,” Kroven shook his head. “I apologize. It was not my intention.”
“It's totally fine.” I laughed it off, but my shaky voice betrayed my verbal sentiment. “I should just really get back to work.”
I was already reaching for the door, ready to get the hell out of there and let my boner subside. Why was I suddenly so attracted to this guy? His eyes, his looks, his voice. It was overwhelming and I needed some air.
“Wait,” His voice beckoned me to turn back around and I made sure not to forget the chart so it could hide my, thankfully, deflating package. “Are you sure you don't have anymore questions?”
“That's okay. Maybe I can ask you more on your next visit.”
Kroven smiled. “Fair enough. But I'd like to ask you one in return, if you'd humor me.”
I'd forgotten about that. What could he have possibly wanted to ask me? I wondered if maybe Orbs had the same curiosity about humans that we did for them. The concept that Kroven wanted to know more about me specifically threatened to rose my cheeks.
“Sure.” I beamed. “Go ahead.”
“Have you ever been with an Orb?”
I felt my face turn crimson instantly and I could feel the sweat start to bead around my forehead. Did Kroven want to…have sex with me? If he did...would I like it? What would it feel like to have his purple tongue slide along my hard length until my body was shaking with want and a need to release? I felt hot all over and I gained the panicked urge to say something, to deny or defend myself, but I was caught off guard by Kroven's laughter. That rolling sound filled the room and it confused me how much I truly enjoyed hearing it.
“I’m kidding, human.” He guffawed for a few more moments while I swallowed the lump in my throat. “That's a bit of humormy kind likes to tease with, just to see the humans squirm with unease.”
I did my best nervous laugh, trying to shake both the idea of him going down on me and the idea of me enjoying it out of my head. “I hope you have a great rest of your day, Kroven.”
He waved while sipping on his blood pouch as I closed the door and I rested my back against the white wood. Was I getting the hots for Orbs in general or was it just Kroven? Maybe it was just his species that I found hot.
Maybe it was justhim.
I needed to remind myself that he was an Orb. They could kill humans in an instant, and his species had reason to. They needed to consume blood to keep living. They were higher on the food chain than I was.
If that were all true, then why was the idea of Kroven hovering over my naked body sofuckingintoxicating?
