“Of course. I know it must be a lot for you to deal with.”

“I’m just afraid something bad is going to happen.” Babs sighed. “But thanks again.” She tapped my arm again and left me there in the hallway.

My phone buzzed again, so grateful that Babs had walkedaway so she couldn’t see my dick pitching an obscene tent in my pants.

What do I get for the instant gratification of answering your boss’ question?

Feeling uncharacteristically confident, I quickly sent my reply and felt like a different person when I saw the bubbles indicating that he was already typing back.

The best “dessert” you’ve ever had

Oh, I don’t doubt that.

My pants started to feel a hell of a lot tighter than they normally did. Ugh, why was he so fuckinghot?

The last five hours had been torturous, cruel even. Now that I was changed out of my red scrubs and wearing a really cute blue button-up and grey khakis, I wasn’t worried anymore.

I’d wanted this date so bad that my head couldn’t conjure up a bad outcome. I mean, it was Kroven. Whatever the night had in store for both of us would be glorious. If anything, the absence of nerves was making me nervous. The last thing I wanted was to be confronted by anyone who thought what we were doing was disgusting. I did my best to bury those unhelpful thoughts and instead writhed in the glee that I was minutes away from sitting across from Kroven in one of my favorite restaurants.

Kroven had told me to pick the place, giving me free rein, which made me feel a little less nervous, I guess. I did end up picking not only one of my favorite places, but a place I knew that supported Orb causes. I wanted Kroven to be comfortable too, and I knew that this place would warrant the least amount of glares. I hoped anyway.

The bus pulled up just outside of the restaurant and I quickly made my way off. I’d had just enough time to shower and get dressed before taking the bus to Habanero’s. I thanked the driver on my way out and looked up at the neon orange sign that labeled the restaurant.

With a chaste breath, I made my way inside. Gliding up to the host stand, a cheerful teenager greeted me.

“Hi there, table for one?”

“Actually, I’m meeting someone, but I don’t think he’s here yet.”

The plucky teen’s face fell as they spotted something behind me, the color draining out of their face. I turned around to see Kroven’s handsome face, eyes glistening with fresh color.

He was wearing a solid white suit jacket, complete with a red pocket square to match the red button-up hidden underneath his jacket. Matching white pants and dark red shoes that caught the light with a subdued shine finished his outfit. Clearly he had his comfort colors down pact.

We shared a brief smile before I turned back to the host.

“Actually, we’re both here. I called earlier, table for two under Grant.”

The host cleared his throat, but nodded, looking down at the list attached to the stand and asked us to follow him inside the restaurant. Making our way to our table, I could feel Kroven’s eyes roaming over my entire body and it was all I could do to will my dick to stay down. How the hell was it going to look if I popped a boner before I even made it to our table?

We sat down in a booth, sitting on opposite sides as the host told us our waiter would be with us shortly. Finally situated, I glanced a look back over at him, finding that he was already staring me up and down like I was on the menu.

“You look exceptionally handsome.” He told me.

A smirk dancing across my lips, I tried to subconsciously tellmy cheeks to not give me away. “Thanks. You look really good as well.”

Our waiter came by, stopping either of us from gushing over the other further, much to my delight. I couldn’t handle more of Kroven’s flirting, especially after finally getting my dick to stop getting ahead of itself in my pants. The waiter was a young woman, around my age if I had to guess. Her light pink hair made me feel more at ease that she wouldn’t outright judge ouralternativesituation.

“Hi, I’m Lana and I’ll be serving you guys tonight. Can I start you off with something to drink?” She produced a pen and pad from the pocket of her orange apron and stared at us in anticipation.

“Just a water for me, thank you.” Kroven nodded.

“Lemonade, please.” I had picked this place partly because I knew they sold my favorite drink all year round. He gave me a slight grin after I’d ordered and I smirked back knowingly.

“Sounds good,” She scribbled on her pad before adding, “Can I get you started on an appetizer or do you need a second to look over the menu?”

“A few minutes if you don’t mind.” Kroven declared with a polite smile.

“Absolutely.” She left us to it, and I was already thankful that a small interaction over us ordering something hadn’t been a big deal. As long as that continued tonight, this was shaping up to be the best date ever.
