“Oh. Right. Yea. That.” I shake my head to clear it, staring at his ceiling.

“What did you think I meant?”

He rolls over to his side and stares at me and goddess, do I want to look, but for the sake of my panties I don’t. Right? Right? My resolve is fading. Shit. Don’t look. Don’t look. Think about your panties. About your pussy.

I roll over, tucking my arm under my head.

Damn it.

His eyes are glowing as they watch me. Residual magic from when he shifted?

“I… uh… Well…”

He chuckles, “At least you’ve added another word.”

Why is he being so… nice? I had prepared myself for a battle, not this.

“Shut up,” I snap, shoving his shoulder and he lets me push him over.

The room is silent, and a few minutes pass.

“Look.” I prop myself up on my elbow and he slowly turns to look at me. “I’m… sorry. About earlier.”

He says nothing and just stares at me like he’s waiting for more.

“About the… light thing… and the… wolf thing.”

“I know,” he whispers.

He knows? No damn you to Helsgard for what you did. No verbal lashing. Just a simple, I know?

He rolls over onto his back. “I’m also sorry… for earlier.”

“What?”

“For… you know… teasing you.”

“Yea, that was pretty fucked up.”

He cuts his eyes at me, and my pulse quickens.

“You have to stop that,” he warns, rolling back onto to his side to look at me.

“Stop what?” I pant out.

“That.”

“I’m not doing anything.”

“You’re always doing something,” he admits softly and the air changes yet again.

“I don’t… I don’t mean to.”

“I know.” He rolls over again and sighs, like he’s battling something inside.

“Did Callum say something to you?”

“What?” he spits out.
