My eyes nearly pop out of my head.
“Needless to say, I know true fae. I’ve had many close friends that were true fae. I’ve also lost many friends.”
“I’m sorry.” My lips pinch into a flat line.
“It’s why I wanted to find you. I genuinely want to protect you.”
“If you can use me?”
“Call it what you want, but don’t pretend like you aren’t getting anything out of this deal. You don’t end up as some lab rat with Samara running all sorts of tests on you,” he snaps out.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.”
“Seems tense,” Knox says, walking back in.
“I’m going to take a shower,” I huff, pushing away from the counter. When I get to the stairs, I realize I don’t know where I’m going and turn back around to find Callum looking at me with an amused grin on his face. “I don’t know where I’m going.”
“I was wondering how long it was going to take before you realized that.”
Ugh. I stomp my foot. I imagine he’s not used to being told no, or stood up too. He’s had over a thousand years to perfect his charm.
He slides off the seat and walks towards me and his fucking cock is coming along for the ride to. Like a freaking mundane child in a bouncy house, ping ponging all over the place.
“My eyes are up here,” he jokes.
“Shut up. Wear some boxers then. I can’t help my eyes follow things that move.”
“I’ll take it under consideration.” He places his hand on the lower part of my back and gently pushes me up the stairs. His hands feel like they’re spreading molten lava across my skin, but it a good way. A great way. The hairs on my arms stand on end and a tingle shoots up my spine to my nipples and a pant parts my lips. I suck my bottom lip into my mouth to prevent my moaning or saying anything stupid.
“Down the hall, second door on the left.” We pass several other closed doors and I can’t help but wonder whose bedrooms they are.
“My bedroom is across the hall from yours. Knox’s is further down on the right and we just passed Emmett’s and Jax’s.”
“Oh. They’re together?”
He looks at me, surprised, then answers slowly. “No. Jax’s is the room beside yours and Emmett’s is across the hall.” I feel like there’s something else that he’s not saying.
The door creaks softly as I press it open and pause. There’s an enormous fireplace on the right side of the room with a chaise lounger in front of it, and on the left is a four-poster king sized bed with a dark red velvet comforter.
Callum presses both hands on the doorframe and leans in, his muscles flexing tightly under the cuffs of his shirt. He smiles at my reaction before he speaks. “The bathroom is behind that door in the corner.”
“Yep. Ok.”
“I’ll bring some clothes up here for you before you get out.”
“Clothes?”
“Yes, unless you don’t want to wear them.”
“I… uh.”
He adds. “The clothes I bring you. I can also just wash what you’re wearing.”
“Oh.” Oh my Goddess. “Right. Duh. Umm. You can bring some clothes up.”
“Ok. Well, if you need anything, let me know.”
“Thanks.”
