Their house is a three-story brick building nestled between two other homes that look just like theirs, with large oak trees casting shadows on the walls.

“Come on, let’s go inside and get something to eat.”

Knox bounces up the stairs gleefully, already grabbing at his shoes with Callum behind him. When I try to step through the door, it feels like I’ve walked into a wall.

“Um?”

Callum turns around and smiles. “Everlee, please come in.”

“I thought that was just for vampires.”

Knox smiles. “We hired a witch to cast a spell to block anyone from entering without our invitation.

“Apologies for the theatrics, but I want to show you, rather than tell you, there were protections on the house.”

Nodding, not sure what to say, I step through the doorway and pause. Their house is not at all what I expected. Open floor plan, with wooden floors, high ceilings, exposed beams and grays and blues that tie together nicely.

“Come on!” Knox waves, skipping down the hall.

There’s an innocence about him that is all-consuming and brings a level of comfort and calmness to the environment around him.

“You’ll have to excuse Knox. He’s always like this.”

“Not all the time,” I mumble under my breath, but forgot they have super hearing.

Callum turns to look at me, confused.

A heat races across my body. “Last night.” Goddess, was it only last night? It doesn’t seem right. “He wasn’t like this last night on stage.”

Callum’s eye pulse as the memory of last night replays in his mind. “Right,” he mumbles out, clears his throat and turns. “Let’s get some food.”

“Yep.” I swallow the knot in my throat. His eyes in those last seconds… did things to me. Made me… want things.

Fuck, I’m horny!

Their kitchen is no less impressive than the rest of their house. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, white granite countertops with gray webbing, and ocean blue cabinets with brushed golden hardware. The ceiling has exposed beams that run the length between rooms. An oversized island takes up most of the space in the middle with seating for six.

“Wow. Your house is beautiful.”

“Pull up a stool,” Knox calls over his shoulder, rifling through the refrigerator. “I’m sure we have something in here we can reheat.”

Callum walks upstairs and calls over his shoulder, "I'm going to shower and change."

I watch him for a second, then turn back to Knox, who’s still digging and mumbling to himself. “At this point, I don’t know if I care what it is. I’m starving.” As if on cue, my stomach gives a loud gurgle.

He looks at me wide-eyed with a boyish grin. “Yes, I suppose you are.” He pulls out a few slices of turkey, a half-eaten slice of pizza, and a bowl of grapes. “Well, this is depressing.”

“I’ll take some grapes.”

“You mean you don’t want the half-eaten piece of pizza?” Jax says, walking through the door. “Seriously Knox? What the fuck?”

“You know I don’t cook. I’m hardly allowed in the kitchen!”

“Where’s Callum?”

“In the shower.”

“Really?” Jax asks, confused.
