We settle on the couch and stare at the wall, and I can feel the air changing around us. “So… you think I could be true fae.”

She looks at me, all humor dropped from her face. “Possibly. Probably. It doesn’t make sense, though. Everyone thought you were going to be a strong fae. Then nothing. What if it was something, but we just didn’t know what to expect since it’s been hundreds of years since anyone has seen or been around a true fae?”

“I’ve had no powers. Not an inkling of anything, well…”

“Well?” She sits up and grabs my hands.

“There was this one time.”

“When? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because you’re going to laugh at me.”

“I always laugh at you and that’s never stopped you from telling me all the dumb shit you do.”

I snarl my lip at her, causing her to laugh.

“Tell me. What’s up buttercup?”

“So one time. When you gave me a magical dildo…”

She sucks her lips in and her eyes go wide, but she doesn’t speak, even though I can tell she’s about to burst like a volcano.

“I had a really powerful orgasm and thought I felt something. Like a pulse of heat, or something.”

“And your bitch ass tried to recreate it, which is why you’ve burned through my magic dildos? You know. This makes so much sense now. It’s why I thought you were a succubus. I mean, I put a lot of magic into those dildos and for you to go through them that fast. I was really concerned.”

“I’ve tried everything to recreate the pulse of whatever it was I felt after that one orgasm, but I haven’t been able to.”

“Man. Such a hard life.”

“Shut up.”

There’s a knock on the door.

“Oh thank Goddess, our food is here,” I groan out and start walking over to the door.

Lizzy grabs my arm and yanks me back. “What are you doing?”

“I’m getting our food.”

“What if that’s someone who was sent to kill you?”

“Liz. You’re being dramatic.”

“Am I? I don’t think you’re taking this seriously enough.”

“Because I don’t believe it.”

“I can’t with you.”

“Plus, Betty gave directions for them to drop at the door. They probably just did a curtesy knock.”

Lizzy peeks out of the door and opens it a second later, quickly grabbing the food and dragging it inside.

“Oh, my… that smells divine. Where is that from?”

“I don’t know?” She looks around the bag, but there is no name on it and pulls out the sandwiches, but there is nothing written on the paper either. “No name.”
