Discretion is of the utmost importance right now. If the others don’t know what’s going on, then I don’t need to charge in, tipping my hand.

Everlee looks from the troll to the woman, baffled, but not scared. She knows the woman. Perhaps the woman is a friend?

Tilting my head up in the air, I inhale slowly, focusing on her friend. Moments later, the stench of herbs and dead animals attacks my nose.

A witch.

She’s friends with a witch?

A ball of blue and white light dances in the witch’s palm and she aggressively steps forward, closing the distance between her and the troll. “You want more of that?” she taunts.

Her witch friend has a potent smell. She’s more powerful than most of the other witches here. Does she know about Everlee? Is that why she’s friends with her? To use her?

The tips of my nails bite into the palms of my hands, and seconds later a warm ooze is trickling down my hand.

Fuck.

I’m bleeding.

The room shifts again. The few vampires that frequent our club smell me.

“What the fuck Callum? Get yourself under control. I’m not trying to fight off half the damn club because of you.”

The warm iron taste coats my tongue as I swipe it across the cut on my palm. Seconds later, it’s sealed. The few heads staring at me, salivating over me, turn away. They’d have no chance against me. When I start to go after her, I feel the whoosh of air around me.

A vampire.

Reacting without waiting, I turn and my hand clamps around the throat of the would-be attacker.

My eyes focus at the same time the bone in my arm cracks.

Shit. Emmett. I release my grip from his throat, and Jax releases his from my arm.

“What’s going on?” Jax barks.

Trying to get the feeling back in my arm, I give it a hard shake and feel the small cracks heal.

They’re gone. Everlee and her friend just ducked through the main doors that just splintered open. Yea. The woman with Everlee is powerful. I just don’t know if that’s good or bad.

“Callum!” Jax barks again.

“What?”

“What in the hell is going on?”

“Jax. Don’t,” Knox warns.

“Let’s go to the office.”

“Where were you two?” Knox coos playfully.

“Shut the fuck up,” Jax retorts.

“You’ve got something there,” Knox points at Emmett’s lip.
