The guys come back up for lunch and see her asleep on me, and I swear they melt into putty just looking at her. This woman. This fierce warrior with a backbone as strong as steel and a heart made of gold has irrevocably changed us.

“You all eat. I’ll grab a bite in a little while.”

“She can sleep on her own,” Jax snaps.

“If you were in my position, would you leave?” I pop my brows up because I already know the answer.

He doesn’t respond and blows out a breath before he walks to the dining room table.

When I hear the guys talk about their powers at lunch, I slink out of Everlee’s hold and lay her on the couch, covering her with a blanket.

“Now you join us?” Callum teases.

“Shut it. Do you all have your powers back? I’ve been meaning to ask.”

They look around at one another and disappointment paints their faces. “No.”

“Really?” I’d been too scared to go into the pool to see if I had my skin back. Perhaps it was silly to think if she disappeared, so did all the darkness she cast. “They aren’t just gone. They’re somewhere. I bet they’re at Allure.”

“Do you want to go look?” Emmett asks.

I look over my shoulder at Everlee.

“She’s not going anywhere. Callum and I will stay here with her while you two go back to Allure,” Jax offers.

Emmett nods and takes his plate to the sink.

“I’ll clean those up,” Callum nods.

“Ok. If something happens to Brady, I have a bag of my blood in the fridge. Just warm it on low heat in half a pot of water for a few minutes. It should last him until I’m back.”

“He’ll be ok.”

“Let’s go,” I say, grabbing the keys off the counter.

“Emmett can drive,” Jax jabs.

“Oh stop. I don’t hit curbs. They literally jump out in front of me!”

“Yea, right.”

“You know, I only hit them when you’re in the car. I think it’s your fault. You make me nervous.”

“I’m going downstairs to sit with Brady.”

“He was sleeping when I left,” Callum says.

“I know. I just want to make sure he doesn’t get scared when he wakes up in a new place. It’s been a lot.”

“Ok. After dishes, I’ll sit with Ev.”

“Look at us.” I clasp my hands together. “One big, happy family!”

“Emmett, take him before I do something I’ll regret,” Jax warns. The glimmer in his eye tells me he’s only kidding, even though he’d never admit it out loud. He’s happy.

Emmett and I get to Allure fifteen minutes later.

“This feels weird. Right?” I ask, walking up to the large oak doors we hadn’t closed only hours ago.
