“Wilpus. Me. She’s mine.”

He grabs at my hand, but I quickly snatch it away and grab Lizzy’s hand as we move through the crowd, trying not to draw attention to ourselves.

“What’s going on?” I pant, looking over my shoulder.

“A fucking troll wants to make you his bitch stick. His glory hole, his-”

“Stop. Stop with all your names. Why are you here?”

“You called me, then hung up. I thought you were in trouble, so I ran a locator spell on you. It looks like I wasn’t wrong.”

“I have the situation under control. And a locator spell? Don’t you need something from me to do that?”

“I’m sure you don’t,” she says, flapping her arms in the air. “And hair. I keep a jar of your hair in my bedside drawer for cases like this.”

“Mine.” The troll swipes at the air in front of me again, trying to grab my arm.

“You realize how fucked up that sounds? You don’t really have a jar full of-” I stop speaking, realizing she’s probably not kidding. “Lizzy!” I bark.

“Stop. Let’s not pretend you wouldn’t do the same!”

“Keep a jar of your hair? No. I wouldn’t do that!”

“Well, easy for you to say,” she stares at me indignantly.

I growl out in frustration as the troll tries to grab at me again. “Can you do something?”

“You said you have it handled,” Lizzy says clasping her fingers and placing her hands behind her head.

“Liz!”

“What? You came here looking for a good time.”

“Liz!”

“Fine. Go back to your bridge, troll!”

“No.”

The troll snags my arm in his hand and Lizzy and I fight to get free, and that’s when I feel it again. The charge.

The lights flicker.

Fuck.

Something’s happening.

My eyes dart to Lizzy as I try to grab her attention, but she’s too focused.

A ball of light shoots out of my hand, hovering for a second, then disappearing. It was small, but it lit the entire room and everyone freezes.

“What the fffff-” Lizzy starts, staring at me, then jumps. “Fuck.” Her word was less of a question and more of a statement.

Several people gather around us, intrigued, and even the troll is stunned.

“You want more of that?” Lizzy shouts, stepping forward, conjuring up a light ball in her hand and holding it there for a second.

What the fuck was that? A ball of light just shot out of my hand. A small bead that was as bright as the sun. Me. My hand.
