“What?”

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!”

“What?”

I stand up and adjust my pants around my now limp-ish dick. “Pull up your pants. Fuck!” I yell out, walking over to the door.

I take three deep breaths, hand on the handle, then twist.

Standing before me, weekend bag on her shoulder, wearing an enormous hat flapping in the breeze with a nervous smile on her face, is trouble.

“Hello mother.”

EVERLEE - MOTHERASS

Knox’sfingersrunupand down my spine, sending shivers through my body, while Emmett has perched himself at my feet under the shade of the umbrella.

“This is great,” Knox says, pressing his lips to my shoulder.

“It is. It really can’t get more perfect than this.”

“We have taco Tuesday tonight and I’m super excited to help! It’s going to be totes faboosh!” Lizzy chimes.

“Help? Your ass better be in there cooking with me.”

“I had Beckett buy bagged shredded lettuce so your wee little fingers wouldn’t have to chop lettuce, and he also bought diced tomatoes, sliced peppers, and shredded cheese,” Emmett adds.

“O-M-G. Y’all are so cute! He didn’t want you cutting and dicing, so he bought it all prepared for you.”

“I wasn’t trying to have anyone cut themselves this week.”

Lizzy tosses her head back, laughing.

“I was talking about you,” Emmett laughs.

“Emmy baby!” Lizzy shouts, swatting at him.

He rolls to the side, dodging her hand and chuckling.

“Where are the boys?” Knox looks over my shoulder. “Beckett will not get a tip.”

“I’m sure they’ll be out in a minute.” I look towards the house, but don’t see anything. It has been a while. A prickly feeling tingles on the back of my neck, but I ignore it. I was worried all day yesterday for no reason. We’re going to have a great day and the rest of the week.

Relax Ev!

“It’s my fault,” Knox says, throwing his hands in the air.

“Likely,” Jax chides, walking over to us. “But what specifically are you talking about?” He tosses me a wink, and it warms my insides.

He’s been doing better today, less…stressed? Worried? I don’t really know what the right word is, but he just looks better overall.

“Beckett. I forgave his debt for the rest of the day and then he goes and takes advantage of me.”

“Did he know he was supposed to come back out?”

“Yea, we were going to have a picnic. It was his idea,” I say, shifting a little on Knox’s lap.

“Maybe he’s still getting it ready?”
