We’ve been on the beach most of the morning playing bocce ball and throwing the football around. At one point, all the guys were tossing the football, talking about the most random shit. It was a great bonding moment, then Knox had to ruin it with a request of pineapple water from the house.

I’ve noticed he hasn’t asked for an alcoholic drink. Without asking him, or really anyone, I’m trying to figure out why. They’ve talked about him drinking and I’ve seen him take a sip here or there of Ev’s drinks, but he never has one of his own. I can’t help but wonder if he’s a recovering alcoholic, which I don’t think so based on everything else I’ve seen, although I’m sure everyone goes through it differently. But there’s something there, but again it’s none of my business unless it effects Ev and from everything I can see he’s head over heels in love with her. Emmett would be tied or a very close second. Callum and Jax seem to show their love in a different way, which is fine. Because again, everyone is different.

Will and I throw the football back and forth for a little before our group grows when Tony joins. A few minutes later, Ev and Lizzy are walking back up with smiles on their faces.

“Knoxxy baby,” Ev says, perching herself on his lap, crossing her legs.

He’s been basking under an umbrella reading a book for the last hour, not making a peep. Emmett and Callum have been talking about their businesses and Jax has been playing some logic puzzle books. Seems like it’s something he recently picked up from Ev.

“What do you need, my love?”

“We’re hungry.”

Shit.

“I see. Would you like some turkey and ham rolls with some freshly cut fruit?”

“Sounds delightful.”

“Do you want it brought out here?”

Her finger makes circles on his chest. “You know me so well.”

“Yes, I do.” He wiggles his fingers in the air. “Ding, ding, ding.”

Twelve hours.

“Yes, my darling Knox,” I say with a British accent. It was his request.

He rubs his hand on his stomach. “I’m starving.”

“I’m sureyouare,” I snipe back quietly.

He chuckles. “Would you be a dear and get me some turkey and ham rolls-”

“With cheese,” Lizzy whispers.

“With cheese and bring them out here?”

“Anything else?” He’s forgetting the fruit and I don’t want his stupid ass to remember too late and make me go in again to get it. It isn’t that far of a walk, but it’s far enough when you don’t want to do anything but sit and do nothing.

“Ah yes. Fruit, cut up.”

“How many rolls would you want?”

He puckers out his bottom lip, rubbing his chin. “I’m thinking ten of each.”

“Wow, you really must be hungry.”

“Famished.”

I close my eyes and take a deep breath and start to walk towards the house.

Knox calls after me, “Darling.”

I think these are becoming our pet names for one another. “Yes, Pookie.”

He tilts his head to the side and whispers, “So sweet.” He huffs a moment, “After this, you will be released of your duty to me.”
