I knock softly on Knox’s door and he calls out from somewhere in the room; I assume the bathroom, since it’s slightly muffled. When I walk in, his sheets are pulled down on his bed, causing a small pang in my chest.
No group sleep tonight. It’s probably the right idea, because the house as a whole is still not sure if Jax would kill him while he slept. I didn’t see all the pictures, but the few I saw were fantastic. I tried not to laugh because I didn’t want to exacerbate the problem.
Knox slides out of the room wearing only a pair of boxers with wet hair. “Have you come as a Trojan horse?”
“Nay.” I laugh.
“I see what you did there.”
I wink and move across the room. “I was just checking on you.”
“I’m still alive.”
“What were you thinking?”
“I don’t know. I think I was drunk. Honestly, I don’t remember. It’s been months.”
What he isn’t saying is this happened when I’d left. He’d been drinking and acting recklessly.
“Honestly, I’m surprised he hadn’t found them before tonight.” He lifts me in his arms and spins me around.
“Do you want some company tonight?” I offer, not out of pity or guilt, but something else. Something I can’t place. Knox has been coming out of his shell more, but there’s still something inside of him that makes me want to just hold him and love him.
“Let me think about it. Hmmm. Yep. One hundred percent.”
“Let me run to my room and take a shower, and then I’ll come back.”
“Or,” he grabs me again. “You could take a bath here, with me?”
My eyes narrow at him and he tosses a lopsided grin my way.
“Twist my arm.”
“Never. That’s Jax’s kink.” He’s chuckling as he walks into the bathroom. A moment later, the boxers he just had on are flying out of the door landing at my feet.
I’ve only been in his bathroom one other time. It’s similar to mine, with the biggest difference being the fresh bouquet that is always showing up. The floor is an industrial concrete gray with wooden accents. In the center of the floor is a white porcelain tub, because Knoxxy baby loves him some baths.
Knox is already sitting in the bath, with the steam rolling off the top, by the time I get over to him. “You seem to be wearing too many clothes.”
“You’re very observant.”
“It’s one of my special skills.”
I roll my eyes, smiling as I slip out of my dress, letting it fall to the floor.
“Getting warmer.”
I slip off my bra and underwear and toss them on my dress.
“Smokin’.”
My fingers wrap around the cool porcelain tub as I dip my toe in, testing the heat. It burns on the skin for a second, but my body quickly adjusts.
“Here.” Knox motions for me to sit in front of him with my back against his chest. “I was going to do bubbles, but thought that may be over the top.”
“This is perfect.” The water sloshes a bit as I settle between his legs. This is a large tub, but we fill it up almost all the way. His knees are bent, pressing on both sides of the tub, while I sit nestled in between, with a small bend in my knees.
“I put some lavender fragrance in here, though.”
