“I’ve been working on it.” Knox does a little shimmy of the shoulders and dances a little jig.

I think I speak for everyone when we say we could listen to her laugh all day. One could also say I’m just head over heels for her, so that may have something to do with it as well.

“Want to eat on the roof? Watch the sunrise?” Callum asks.

“Yes!” Everlee squeals, clasping her hands together.

“Perfect. Everlee, Knox and Jax can take the plates, juice, and glaze up, and I’ll help Emmett with the rolls.”

They each grab their dishes and head upstairs. I can’t ignore the fact Callum watches them, which tells me there’s something he wants to talk about in private before breakfast.

“What’s going on?”

He looks at me and smiles. “I heard what you said to Everlee this morning.”

I roll my eyes, “So? I know you all feel the same, but are just too chicken shit to say it.”

Callum chuckles. “Maybe so. Maybe I was going to say it this morning too, but then heard you and didn’t want her to think I was only saying it because of you.”

“Whatever.” I finish scraping the last roll onto the plate. “Do you want to tell me what this is really about? Because I’m fairly certain it isn’t about me telling Ev I love her.”

“No. It’s not.”

“This is about Sammie’s offer?”

He nods.

“You think she’s going to get mad?”

“I don’t know. I feel like we’re in a great spot right now and this might put a wrench into everything. It just makes me nervous.”

“Knox mentioned something last night about her asking about Allure. Do you think she already knows?”

“I don’t know. It seems too coincidental Sammie brings this offer to us the same night I see her talking to Everlee, who then she mentions something to us.”

“I wish Knox wouldn’t have freaked out and gotten a little more info before he shut the convo down.”

“Well, I want to talk to her about it today.”

“I think that’s best. Sammie needs a decision pretty quickly, right?”

“Yea.” Callum grabs a small pile of napkins and some silverware and leads me up the stairs to the roof.

The weather has a slight chill in the air, but it looks like someone has turned on the hot tub because it’s bubbling with its colored lights flashing. Everlee is rearranging the small bouquet she insists on keeping out here to provide a little more color, especiallysince it’s spring. Our main dining room has two larger vases at the ends of each table, while the front room also has another arrangement.

I love the fact we can leave for Vixen’s or Bo’s at night, then come back to find something has changed. A little Everlee touch. It’s almost turned into a game for the guys to see who finds what she’s changed first. We don’t mind. In fact, we love it. It means she’s making herself at home, which puts us all at ease.

We’ve talked about her leaving, and what our future looks like several times. She seems to be ok with all the constraints and says that marriage isn’t all that important. The commitment is more important than a piece of paper, she says. Which none of us can argue with. The only thing I think, rather, we think, she’s not being completely honest with is kids.

I think she’s still holding out hope we’ll change our mind and part of me, and possibly all of us, is that we will too. Collectively. But it’s one of those topics that’s so hard to discuss, because we all agreed long ago that marriage and kids were out of the equation, but that was before her. Before someone who melds into our life so perfectly.

Who knows what the future holds, but I know I can’t wait to find out.

We all sit at the table, with Queen Everlee at the head. It’s her favorite spot out here, because she says she can see all of us, but really, I think it’s because she likes to be the head of the table. I used to think it was to fuck with Callum, and maybe it started out that way, but it’s morphed. She’s grown more confident in her skin and in the bedroom. She asks for what she wants and she’s not afraid to try anything.

We used to be a little more taboo, but that was when we handpicked individuals who were up for the task and lived that lifestyle. Everlee didn’t. She was new to everything, but again, who knows what the future holds. But I’m very excited.

“Bon appétit!”
