He smiled. “I’m glad you’re ok. When I saw Knox walking by with that guy, I was worried about you. Then I found out you’d done that. Remind me never to cross you.” He chuckled, standing up. “Feel free to use the shower to clean up. Also Callum bought some clothes he thought would fit you. They’re on the chair over there.” He pointed to another chair to my left.

How many chairs does one room need? I wondered.

“We’ll be downstairs.”

I nodded, still too stunned to speak. It was like my ears could hear all the words coming out of his mouth, but I was having a hard time processing everything.

He paused with his hand on the knob. “Would you like coffee or tea?”

“Coffee, please.”

“You got it.” He closed the door.

I stared at the ceiling, rubbing my face, and listened for any identifiable sound, but there was just silence. I rolled over and grabbed my phone to look at the messages.

Girl, where are you?
