We stepped out of line and before we started walking, I heard the bride-to-be huff and then call out, “What about me? I’m getting married Saturday!”

The man in black turned to look at her. “No.”

“But.” She stomped her foot, mumbling something about us.

I turned to look at her.

“Ev, don’t.” Lizzy pleaded, grabbing for my arm.

“I’m good.” I said, then turned around. “I feel bad for the man you’re marrying. He's going to be miserable, because you are miserable.”

“You don’t know me.”

“You’re right. I don’t. I only know the five minutes of you I’ve had to endure, and I can’t imagine why these girls hang around you. You are a self-centered cunt bag and your maid of honor, whoever she is, deserves someone who actually appreciates her. And for the record, we aren’t deaf. Surprise. Nor are we a couple, although if we were, I’d be one lucky girl. She was holding my hand, so I didn’t turn around and punch you in the face for saying stupid shit.”

She gasped, and I turned and started walking away.

The man in black looked at me with a smile tugging at his lips. “Are you ready?”

“Now, I am.”

We got to the door, and the bouncer looked at us, then unhooked the rope.

“Why did you get us?” Lizzy asked.

“Callum heard you were here and didn’t want you both waiting outside.”

I licked my lips, expecting to see him waiting for us when we walked in, but he wasn’t there.

“You two have a good night.” The man walked away, leaving Lizzy and me standing in the hall.

“Ok then.” She said, looking around. “Bar or dance floor?”

“Bar.”

You should never kiss a stranger in the dark

Icouldfeelthenerves coursing through me. I’d forgotten about them for a second when we were waiting outside because I was focused on that bridal hussy, but now it was just us, the music and my thoughts. Callum knew I was here. What did that mean? Why did he pull me out of line?

I could feel myself being sucked down the hole.

We walked to the bar, and I looked for Emmett and had mixed feelings when I didn’t see him. I wanted to see him, but at the same time, I didn’t.

“This wasn’t a good idea.” I mumbled to Lizzy.

“Let’s just have a few drinks, then we will leave. What time is your flight tomorrow?”

“Three in the afternoon.”

“Perfect. You can get wasted and then come home with me and stay.”

“Lizzy…”

“What?” She pushed her way through the crowd, to the bar. “Two lemon drop shots-“

“And two pineapple martinis?” The bartender finished. She was cute and edgy. She had a pixie haircut, with a fade on one side, and streaks of purple and blue colored throughout. She had her eyebrow, nose and lip pierced, with several small tattoos scattered around her arms, neck and chest. “Haven’t seen you here in a few weeks.”

I thought she was talking to me, then I realized she was talking to Lizzy. “Yea. It’s been crazy at work.”
