“It is now. Our real fake honeymoon will be Saturday night. But let’s do a trial run tonight. Luke and Chase are leaving tomorrow. Blake and I were going to bring them here tonight for a round of drinks. We’ll hang out, and then you and I will go off for some private time. Sound good?”

“A pre-wedding fake honeymoon.” Her cheeks flush. “I’m in.”

And now I’m really about to go past my own comfort zone, but I can’t seem to stop myself today. “You have to promise me something about Saturday.”

A sharp inhale and then, “Okay.”

“Promise me that our fake wedding night will last all night.”

“All night? But usually we…”

I take her hand in mine and stroke the soft skin with my thumb. “Cut it short. I know.” The words come out before I can stop them, “This will be our one-time exception.”

“Exception?”

“Yep. After the bar, I’ll take you somewhere private until dawn. After that, we’ll return to real life.”

Macey goes silent.

And just when I’m thinking I went too far and that we shouldn’t change up our rules no matter what…

“Okay.” A quick nod, and her ponytail bobs up and down. “All night.”

I swallow the rest of my beer down before grinning at her.

All night with Macey Henwood. I’m going to give her a fake wedding night she won’t be able to forget. And neither will I.

“Ho-oly. Darcy.” From her seat at The Cowherd bar, Ginny’s mouth drops open as she stares toward the door later that evening.

I don’t need to look to know Logan’s here. My skin prickles with awareness every time he’s nearby.

“Logan had mentioned he was stopping by tonight,” I say as I continue filling an order of beers.

“Who’s with Logan and Blake?” Ginny asks me, but before I can turn, she answers her own question. “Oh! It’s Luke. And his brother, Chase. God, they’ve gotten even hotter since last year.”

From my spot behind the bar, I crane my neck to see around her stool.

The first guy I notice is Logan. He’s leaning against the wall by the front door, chatting with Blake. My entire body lights up.

I love when Logan walks into the saloon for a visit. I love the way he stands so confidently. And the way his jeans hang low on his hips, and his t-shirt hugs his muscled chest. And of course, I love the way his whiskey eyes fix on me from across the room.

“Luke and Chase have always been handsome,” I say. “The Wilds are genetically blessed, for sure.”

The sleeves of Luke’s collared shirt are rolled halfway up his forearms, and his blue eyes contrast with his dark hair. His younger brother, Chase, is blond and all muscle.

“I mean, they could all seriously be models,” Ginny gushes.

“Shh. They’re coming this way,” I murmur as they cross the room toward us.

“Hey, Mace. Gin.” Logan winks at Ginny like he saw her staring. “Y’all remember Luke and Chase.”

Luke makes a big show of kissing Ginny’s cheek and then mine, and Chase follows him. Then they both glance at Logan, who quickly shifts over to my side and steps closer to me possessively.
