Possessive is dangerous. And intoxicating. And I want that—to live with Ashley forever somewhere. Anywhere.
But the ranch will do just fine.
We can ride horses and go on hikes and…Christ, I need to stop.
It’s only been a week since I showed Ashley the report about her stepfather, but time has flown. We’ve grown closer, like any barrier we’d been putting up between each other is now gone. It’s felt…
Awesome.
Exciting.
And…
Scary as hell.
But the level of desire I have to be with her overwhelms my fear.
We’ve had sex every night. And every morning. And everywhere.
In the shower.
On the couch.
Against the wall.
In my truck.
And my favorite place…in our bed.
Each time is better than the last. I feel like I’m learning a new part of Ashley’s body, and what she likes and what she doesn’t, every day.
But as incredible as the sex has been, our outdoor time has suffered. I was supposed to show her around Montana. And I want to remedy that this morning.
“I have an idea.” I take her by the shoulders and gently urge her off my lap and into a sitting position. Louie meows and jumps off, heading for her bowl of food in the kitchen. “Today’s a rare morning off for me, and better yet, it’s the weekend, so you aren’t working either. My game’s not until tonight. Let’s go for a hike on the ranch and then go get steaks in town.”
“Won’t you get asked for, like, a million autographs and pictures?” She giggles. “I could do a live video of us out on the town for Wild West Ash.”
“You’ll do nothing of the sort.”
She climbs back onto my lap, this time straddling me. “You don’t want to be part of my social feed?” she says teasingly.
“I hate social media. You know that.”
“But you always say you’ll do anything for me.”
I grin. “You’re a troublemaker today. What’s gotten into you?”
She shrugs. “I’m feeling more relaxed. The last few days, I’ve woken up and not thought I was still in New Orleans.”
I kiss her. “How does it feel?”
“Weird. But good. Like I can still be at home even when I’m not at home. You know what I mean?”
Yes, I know exactly what she means. For me, I’ve got two touchstones—my twin brother and Ashley Hill.
“I love having you here, Ash,” I say.
She kisses me back. “Okay, you win. Let’s leave our private space and go public.”
