The brown of her eyes swirls with desire. “You know everything I like.”
“I have some new ideas, actually. Things I want to try.”
Her breath catches in her throat. “You-you do?”
I nod. “Would you like that?”
“Yes.”
I shift uncomfortably on the bar stool. I’m going to have trouble walking out of here with any decency in a moment, but I’m enjoying teasing Macey so much I keep going.
“How about tonight we break our once a year rule and practice?” I didn’t exactly plan to say that, but I’m too caught up in our flirting to stop. “Due to the extenuating circumstances of a fake marriage.”
“What do you mean?”
“A pre-wedding honeymoon.”
She swats at me playfully. “That’s not a thing, Logan.”
“It is now. Our real fake honeymoon will be Saturday night. But let’s do a trial run tonight. Luke and Chase are leaving tomorrow. Blake and I were going to bring them here tonight for a round of drinks. We’ll hang out, and then you and I will go off for some private time. Sound good?”
“A pre-wedding fake honeymoon.” Her cheeks flush. “I’m in.”
And now I’m really about to go past my own comfort zone, but I can’t seem to stop myself today. “You have to promise me something about Saturday.”
A sharp inhale and then, “Okay.”
“Promise me that our fake wedding night will last all night.”
“All night? But usually we…”
I take her hand in mine and stroke the soft skin with my thumb. “Cut it short. I know.” The words come out before I can stop them, “This will be our one-time exception.”
“Exception?”
“Yep. After the bar, I’ll take you somewhere private until dawn. After that, we’ll return to real life.”
Macey goes silent.
And just when I’m thinking I went too far and that we shouldn’t change up our rules no matter what…
“Okay.” A quick nod, and her ponytail bobs up and down. “All night.”
I swallow the rest of my beer down before grinning at her.
All night with Macey Henwood. I’m going to give her a fake wedding night she won’t be able to forget. And neither will I.
