Something about the angle, and the fact that he’s behind me, and the angle…

I can’t think. I can’t worry. All I can do is feel.

My orgasm explodes through me, and Cam follows with his own release. We collapse onto the couch, his arms wrapped tightly around me from behind. He makes sure to slide off of me so he doesn’t crush me, but his lips are on my neck.

“You’re beautiful.”

Two words. So simple, but they mean everything to me. Because I know Cam means them. He thinks I’m beautiful inside and out. The same way I feel about him.

Chapter Twenty-One

The entire next day, I’m walking on air. I smell Cam on my skin, I remember the way he kissed me and the way he felt inside me. Even though I’m sore, I want to be with him again as soon as possible.

Right before practice, I pick up my phone and call Celie.

“Did you sleep with him?” she squeals immediately.

“Hi.”

“Savannah, there’s no time for niceties. Did you do it or not?”

“How about a different question for starters?” Then I give up. “Yes.”

“Thank God!” she says loudly. “You finally lost your virginity! And the orgasm?”

I break into a laugh. “Fine, I’ll share. Yes. And it was amazing. I’ll be seeing him at practice in a few minutes. But, now that he’s helped me with my resolution, what if that’s it? Maybe we only dated to get me over this hump, and he’s expecting us to go back to being friends.”

“Hmmm.”

“What’s that supposed to mean? Maybe I should just call him.”

“Noooo!” Celie’s voice comes blaring through the phone. “Don’t call him, Vannah! Keep him guessing.”

A knock on my door interrupts us. “Come in!”

“No!” Celie yells at me again. “Don’t just ask him to come in! I’m telling you; make him sweat it out!”

I’ve already stopped listening to her because Cam is stepping into my office, and I lose my breath looking at him. He’s wearing a deep blue sweater under his unbuttoned overcoat and black dress pants. He grins at me and walks over to my desk. “Hey.”

I’m smiling at him, about to respond, when—

“Do you hear me?” Celie shouts so loudly that Cam looks at the phone.

“Is that Celie?” he asks, his dimple showing.

“I’m telling you, Vannah, I know what I’m doing in this area!” Celie’s still yelling. “Do not allow him to…”

“Bye, Cel.” I cut her off and hang up.

I look up at Cam. “Hi.” I try to sound casual, but the word comes out all breathy. “How was your day?”

“It was great.”

Shit.I stand up.

Maybe I should sit down.

I take a seat at my desk again, but then I stand up and take a step toward Cam. Maybe I should just sit down…
