With this, my heart deflates, and I look at her and smile even though my posture is stiff. She rubs my hand with her thumb, much as I did in the hospital after Brodie’s accident.

“I am not opposed to staying, though. My mom lives a few hours south of here, and it is within driving distance. I guess we will see.”

I turn my head to her and could kiss her, but out of respect for my parents, I just nodded in agreement. “Who knows what the future holds, Dad.”

He seems to accept this answer, and mom tells us about her charity event and all that went into preparing such a night.

“So I hear you will be Dax’s date for the night?”

Liv laughs at this and says, “Yes, he informed me of this the other day, so I guess I am going. It is for a good cause, so I look forward to being there.”

Mom nods her head in agreement. “It really is, and it is also a good time. It is a black-tie event, and there is also a silent auction. It is held in Galveston; hence the name Ride the Wave Gala.”

“Oh, I love the beach! That sounds like so much fun. Are we staying there overnight?”

I look over at her and laugh. “We definitely could.”

My thoughts go to staying the night with Liv in the hotel and ravaging her until the early morning. She looks at me, not realizing what she implied, until she sees my eyes smolder. I think of all the places I will fuck her in that suite. Her pupils dilated, and then my dad brought his hand to his mouth with a pseudo cough. The interruption was just enough to break the lust-filled trance we shared.

Liv glances away from me and looks at my father, who now is sporting a smirk on his face letting us know that he had an idea of where our minds were going. This causes Liv to straighten her posture and snap her attention to my mother.

“Where is the event taking place in Galveston?” she asks with exaggerated interest.

Mom, less enthused by what transpired, quickly answers with pursed lips. “At a wonderful hotel on the seawall. There will be formal indoor dining and outdoor dancing with a band.”

Liv looks pleased. “Oh, that sounds lovely. I am sure that it will be a great event.”

Mom can’t hide the excitement on her face. “Of course, we are still in the planning phase, but it takes a lot of planning to execute such a huge yearly fundraiser. We have four tickets already for us, so you don’t have to worry about the ticket.”

Liv looks a little confused. “I can pay you for the ticket cost if you’d like.”

I place my hand over Liv’s to stop her train of thought. “No. My mom didn’t mean it like that. She is just telling you that it is covered, and you will, of course, sit at our family’s table.”

This eases her thoughts a bit. “Okay, I just didn’t want to assume that. Thank you for the ticket.”

“Liv, you never have to thank me for anything like that. I want you as my date. By the way, Mom, are Garrett and Hannah going?”

Liv looks at me in question. My mom seems to notice her question also.

“Has Dax not spoken of his brother and his wife to you?”

Liv puts her head down and shakes it no.

Damn it. I don’t want her to think that I am hiding secrets or that I don’t want her to know about my family. It just hasn’t come up yet. I would like this woman to know everything about me. We just haven’t had time to do that with each other.

“Sorry, Mom and Liv. I just hadn’t mentioned him yet. You will meet him next, trust me.”

This seems to appease both women. There just hasn’t been time. On one hand, we are both very busy with school and work. On other hand, I'd rather spend my little time with Liv worshipping her body instead of talking about my family, although I do love them dearly. They are just not at the forefront of my mind when I’m with her. I can officially not spend more time with my parents as my thoughts have become preoccupied with getting Liv back to my apartment. My dick has been at half-mast since that last topic, and I am in a rush to get out of there. We say our goodbyes. My mom lets us off the hook when I tell her we must get up early the next day. I help Liv into my Rover and round the other door like a man on a mission.

As we drive off through their property, I replay the night and smile. Liv is perfect, and I’m sure my parents love her as much as I do. Love her. Do I love Liv? I can't believe I am thinking this, but it feels right. Instead of trying to fight my feelings for her, I will embrace them and see where it goes. I already know my feelings for her, but I need her to come up with the same certainty as me. There is no one else. She has been my obsession from day one. I knew I felt this pull toward her. I just hope she can accept it too. I turn on the radio and Imagine Dragons fills my speakers with the song “Follow You.”The beats sound fantastic through the speakers, and Liv loves this band. She has no idea how fitting this song is. I do not doubt that I will follow Liv to the ends of the earth, anywhere as long as it leads me to her.

ChapterTwenty-Seven

Dax

My hand restson her thigh as we get close to her home. I wanted her to spend the night at my house, but it would have been too presumptuous of me to drive straight there. Reluctantly, I take her to her house and hope the night doesn’t end too early. I moved my hand a little higher up, wishing she had worn a skirt. I made a mental note to buy her more skirts in the future. I’ll buy her a hundred if it allows me more access to that pretty pussy of hers. We pull up to her place and place the Rover in park. I look over at her and gently bring her head closer to mine. With my fingers splayed in her hair, I gently kiss her.

“I’ll walk you up,” I say against her lips.
