“Shame, because we love Omegas.” I grin.
“Don’t need to know how much of a man-slut you are, thanks,” she growls.
“Not a man slut. We’ve only been with each other since we got together, and that's been for nearly ten years. What he means is, we like the idea of having our own Omega.”
“Cool. Go find one then.” She waves us off, and I hate the look of defeat on Aiden’s face.
I can’t let Lexi get away. It would hurt me, yes, but it would destroy Aiden.
Time to be serious, Sloane. Fix this.
“Look. We’re sorry about how we met, but we’re not sorry that we met you. The fact is, you are our scent match, and we all know that there’s a connection we can’t deny. Even if you want to. Please give us a chance to get to know you before you write us off. We’re not asking you to break up with Emmett. We don’t care that you’re pregnant. In fact, we love kids, always wanted some of our own. We just want the chance to be the Alphas you deserve, even if you don’t need us. We’re not asking to control you or to uproot your life. Just, please, give us a chance.”
She licks her lips, her eyes flicking back and forth between us before she closes her eyes.
I can feel the stress and hesitation coming off her in waves.
“Hey.” I carefully put my hand on top of hers. “We’re not going to hurt you.”
When she opens her eyes, I see pain in them, and it makes me want to rip the world apart. Someone hurt her, I can see it in her expression.
When I find out who, they won’t be breathing any longer.
“Can I have some time?” she whispers. “I have a lot going on right now, and I’m seconds away from a mental breakdown.” Her eyes well with tears, and I know Aiden is fighting the urge to pull her into his arms and make everything better. “Honestly, ifyou got to know me, I don’t think you’d want me. I’ve got a lot of baggage. Being with me wouldn’t be all sunshine and rainbows.”
“It’s a good thing I’ve got the strength to carry any baggage you have.” I grin.
“And who needs sunshine all the time? I love a good rainy night.”
She’s shaking now, her lower lip quivering.
“Let me talk to Emmett.” She takes a shuddering breath. “I still need to tell him about the baby. One thing at a time, okay?”
“Okay,” Aiden says with no hesitation.
“You’re not on a timeline or anything?” she asks.
“No. We’re in Widows Peak on business, and I don’t think we’re going to be done anytime soon,” Aiden explains.
“Business?” Her brows furrow. “What kind of business?”
“We’re a part of a special force team. We help get Omegas out of bad situations."
“You... do?” That has her perking up in the blink of an eye.Okay, okay, we might get some brownie points here.
“Oh yeah. We live to help rid the world of nasty scum. We mostly work on shutting down Omega sex trafficking rings.”
“Whoa.” She blinks a few times, looking out of the window. “That’s... that’s a job I can respect.” She pauses for a moment before blowing out a deep breath.
“Okay,” she breathes out. “Just give me a little time, and we can talk again.”
“Can I give you our number?”
She nods and takes out her phone. She brings up her contacts, but not before I got a look at her background photo. It’s of her and a guy with blonde hair. If that’s Emmett, I’m not gonna lie, he’s hot. I wonder if he’s into men? If he’s going to be a part of our pack, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for us all to share.
Damn it, now my cock is hard again. Not that it hasn't stopped being hard since I smelled Lexi for the first time yesterday.
She adds Aiden’s contact into her phone and puts it away.
