But sometimes he can forget that the world doesn’t always think like him, and he’s gotten his ass kicked for it more than once. Not that the fucker doesn't love every moment of it.

He loves a good fight. I, however, don’t. Not unless it’s needed. Same for taking a life.

“Come on. I’m hungry. Let’s go to the diner down the street.”

The cool air starts to seep in, making me shiver. “I don’t think we’re dressed for the weather around here,” I mutter.

“What?” Sloane looks at me like I’m crazy. “You’re joking, right? It’s nice out.”

“You run like a damn furnace, of course, you would think that. You’re the kind of guy who checks the mail in shorts and no shirt in the middle of winter.”

“I don’t see the point in putting on clothes when it’s going to take me three seconds to walk to the end of the path and back. I’ve told you this.”

“Let’s stop in here.” I nod toward a clothing store.

“Fine. But hurry, I’m hungry.”

We head right for the coat section. I browse through them, deciding on a thick, plaid coat.

“Okay. I’m liking this.” Sloane grins as I check myself out in the mirror, grabbing the coat, pulling me towards him. “My own personal mountain man. Fuck, that’s hot.”

“Stop,” I chuckle, pushing him off me.

He doesn’t let me go, instead grabs the back of my head and holds me still so he can crash his lips onto mine.

I moan, loving the feeling of him against me. “Makes me want to bend you over and take you right here,” he growls against my lips.

“Don’t you dare.” I pull away, panting.

“I want you tonight. Just letting you know. I want to see our Omega, have her scent wrap around me like a blanket, then I want to rut into you from behind as I imagine both of us taking her,” he growls, nipping at my bottom lip.

“Fuck,” I grunt, rushing to adjust my erection. “You’re playing dirty, Sloane. Watch yourself.”

He smirks. “Baby, you damn well know this isn’t my dirty. I can show you my dirty. Let me get on my knees, and give the people of this town arealshow.”

“Fucking hell,” I shudder, pushing past him. My pheromones are probably coming off me in waves. I prove as much when the man behind the counter wrinkles his nose as he rings up the jacket.

I smile and nod, paying for it before dragging Sloane out the door.

“Let’s get some food in you. Maybe you won’t be as much of a menace."

“You’re cute if you think that will help.” He pinches my ass, cackling as he ducks away when I swing for him.

We stop for a quick breakfast at Laurel’s diner, ordering a little bit of everything.

“Fuck this is really good,” Sloane groans as he takes another bite of food.

Casting a glance around the room, I find eyes on us. Not surprising. Since we came into town, everyone has been looking at us like we don’t belong.

I’ve been meaning to check in with the others, see how their hunt for Silva is going, but I’ve been too distracted by Lexi. I have a feeling that if Lexi is here, so is Silva. Harlan will find her in no time.

“Is it just me, or does everyone seem to be looking at us?” Sloane asks, wiping at his mouth with a napkin.

“I think it’s just because we’re new. There don’t seem to be many Alphas around here.”

“No. It’s like they’re staring at me more than you.” He narrows his eyes as he glances around the room.

I lift my cup of coffee up to hide my smile. “It’s because you're a good looking man. People stare at you all the time.”And not at all because of what I wrote on your forehead last night.I can’t believe he hasn’t seen it yet. My foolish man.
