“It’s an improvement,” I admit. “You know what always used to piss me off? The way their fingernails would click when they’d lecture us.”
“You want me to pull off their nails, baby, or do you want the pleasure?” Sloane asks, picking up some pliers.
His crazy is coming out, and it’s calling to mine. Maybe I’m a lot more fucked in the head than I thought.
“I think you should do it together,” Luna suggests. “It’s a great relationship-building activity.”
I’m oddly focused as I pull off Viv’s fingernails one by one. I hate anything to do with nails, they give me the heebie-jeebies. I’m so glad this is her and not me right now.
One at a time, we end Viv and Beth's lives. Not a single drop of remorse or guilt is in this room. They got what they deserved.
Now it’s time for the main show. Two down, one more to go.
Your time is up, Gideon. Hope you rot in hell.
“Has everyone made their statement on Gideon’s body?” Isidro asks. “Anything else that comes to mind?”
“Devil,” Silva says, looking as if she’s in pain. “Would someone like to do the honors for me? I’m not feeling so hot.”
“I got you,” I offer up. If my sister isn’t in shape to do this, I want to.
Isidro hands me the brand. I take it, the iron heavy in my hand. Finding an untouched part of Gideon’s body, I press forward, the sound of his sizzling skin fills my ears, and he releases a weak as fuck scream. He doesn’t have any fight left in him.
Gross. The smell of burning flesh fucking stinks.
Sloane takes the brand from me and pulls me to the side.
Isidro tells us to watch from the other side of the room as he gets Gideon ready for the grand finale.
We all move out of the way and wait.
Isidro pulls a pin, and boom, the motherfucker is in a million little pieces.
A rush of joy fills me knowing he’s finally gone. How fucked up is that when there are body parts scattered all over the room?
I’m not sure if I’m going to end up with nightmares after this or not, but at least when I wake up, I’ll know he’s really gone.
The guys drench the basement in gasoline, and that's when I know it’s time to go. Isidro says as much, and we all get the hell out of there.
“Such a great exit,” Aiden says, joining us. My face lights up at the sight of my Alpha. I was worried. I’m glad he's okay.
We're all covered in various amounts of blood. I don’t have much on me, but severed tongues do get messy. The fingernails weren't too bad.
“What about Kyren, Harlan, and Syrus?” Silva asks weakly.
“Working on some things,” Aiden tells her. “We’re leaving them an SUV. Everything is fine. Last I heard, Syrus was hiding out with Kyren, deleting information from Gideon’s database. Harlan hasn’t told them where his central hub of information is located, and they’re still clearing the estate.”
“Will they be safe?” she asks.
“Yes,” Aiden says gently. “They’re in the safe room of the office. It’s not on any of the blueprints. Kyren only found it by dumb luck. They’re good.”
By the time we get to the cars, Silva is fast asleep in her Beta’s arms.
“Sleep well, Firefly,” I tell her, giving her arm a touch before I get inside our vehicle.
“Let’s get you to bed,” Aiden says.
My eyes feel heavy as the adrenaline crash starts to set in. “Yeah.” I blink my eyes closed, leaning my head against the window. “Let’s go home.”
